Chapter 33 💝 34

~ CAFETERIA ~

“The food today is yummy!” David said as he kept munching on his food.

“What’s yummy about it? It’s just the same food we eat every day”Luke replied starring at Judy who was quiet.

What’s with her? He thought as he continued eating his food.

“I don’t see Valerie and Bryan” Mira said starring around the cafeteria.

“That’s because they are currently busy” David said smiling to himself.

“Busy with what?” Mira asked.

“You see those two are pretending to be dating to…..”

“What!” Mira yelled which caught people’s attention.

“Didn’t you hear about it? It’s the gossip going around the school” Pearl told her slowly.

“But why are they in a pretence relationship?” Mira asked.

“To get Leo off her back. You know he recently began showing interest in Valerie and so Bryan is only doing this to help her” David whispered to her but that didn’t make her feel at ease.

“So where are they?” Mira asked.

“While having a chat with Bryan yesterday, I realized some thing” David began.

“Which is?” Luke asked.

“Which is that Bryan is interested in Valerie” David said grinning like a fool.

“That’s absurd” Judy spoke for the first time ever since they all gathered to eat breakfast.

“It is true. Bryan was talking about his heart playing a trick on him but he wasn’t sure and so I did some thing to help him get his answers” David said.

“What did you do ?” Judy asked knowing she won’t like his answer.

“I lock them both up!” He said looking like some one who just won the world cup.

“Who asked you to do that!” Mira yelled startling every one including David.

“Well I….I thought that if they are both locked up, it will help Bryan know what he feels for Valerie, I….didn’t mean to cause trouble. I only wanted to help” David replied wondering why Mira is upset about it.

“Did they ask you for it? They are some times when you are annoying!” She said turning to leave.

“Where are you going?” David asked.

“To get them out of your stupid plan” Mira replied before storming out of the cafeteria.

“Just what is her deal? She’s gonna ruin things for Valerie and Bryan” David said his appetite gone.

“They didn’t ask you to do it in the first place” Luke said slowly.

“They didn’t but I only wanted to help Bryan. The poor thing was confused about his feelings and it’s only right that I meddle, don’t you think so girls?” He asked waiting for a response from Judy and Pearl.

“If it turns out that Bryan likes Valerie, he will figure it out himself, you didn’t have to meddle” Judy replied before leaving her seat.

Feeling some thing was off, Luke also excused him self, going after her which left David and Pearl.

“Excuse me, I have some thing to do” Pearl said wanting to leave but David took hold of her hand.

“Do you also think that my meddling is wrong?” David asked.

“I don’t, you were only thinking about your friends. Can you let go of my hand now, have got to go” She said trying to pull free but he tightened his hold on it.

“Stay and continue your break fast, you don’t have to leave even though the others did” he said.

“I have things to do” Pearl replied still trying to pull her hand out of his.

“Are you perhaps avoiding me? Is it because of the things I said yesterday?” David asked.

“You said a lot of things yesterday and after thinking about it, I found myself understanding your point. I would have done the same thing if I were in your shoes” she replied slowly.

“But” David persisted knowing she still had more to say.

“But it’s hard for me. I would be lying if I said am no longer in love with you cause I still am. Infact have been in love with you for a year now, you just didn’t notice until now” she replied having a sad expression.

“And even when you did, you rejected me. It’s quite painful and hard to get rid of the feelings I have for you but I will do it,David. And to achieve that I think it’s best that we stay away from each other” Pearl suggested making David speechless for a while.

” Do you think that staying away from me will help and besides we attend the same school and we are friends, it will be hard avoiding me” David said hurriedly.

“Staying away from you will certainly help, I can get to meet other guys and fall in love with one of them and school is big enough for us to avoid each other. Luckily for me we aren’t in the same class and we should stop being friends for now until I get my feelings sorted out” She replied.

“You really are going to push through with this plan of yours?” David asked and she nodded.

“It might be hard but am gonna make sure it works. So you can let go of my hand now” she said and that’s when he noticed that he was holding onto her hand tightly.

“Oh! Sorry” he said letting her go.

“See you” Pearl said before leaving the table while he kept starring at her.

“Meet other guys and fall in love with them ? Tch! And you say you love me!” He murmured to himself in anger trying to eat again but when he couldn’t, he push the plate away and left the cafeteria.

STORAGE ROOM

“What’s going on here?” Mira asked as she stared at Bryan and Valerie who were both locked in each other arms.

“Nothing!” Chloe replied as she quickly move out of Bryan arms though Bryan didn’t want to let go.

“Are you sure?” Mira asked starring at the both of them suspiciously.

“I am sure. How did you find us?” Chloe asked quickly changing the subject.

“That dummy David told us about his plan and so I came to help you both out of this unwanted situation ” Mira replied now starring at Bryan.

“It’s is an unwanted situation right?” She asked only starring at Bryan.

“Of course! It is an unwanted situation. If I had known what David was up to, I would never have listened to him” Chloe replied quickly missing the look Mira kept giving Bryan.

“It isn’t an unwanted situation to me” Bryan said suddenly before leaving the room.

“What the hell is he saying?” Chloe mumbled before turning to Mira.

“Let’s go before we get locked in again” Chloe said wanting to leave but Mira pulled her back.

“Is something really going on between you and Bryan or is it just farce?” Mira asked looking very serious that Chloe was speechless for a while.

“Of course not! There’s nothing going on between Bryan and I and you should put your mind at ease cause nothing will ever happen between us” Chloe said forcing a smile on her face.

“That sounds better, let’s go” Mira replied with a smile on her face and slowly Chloe followed her out of the room.

Judy got out of her tent only to recieve a call, seeing who it was she cut off the call only to look up to see Luke standing a distance away.

“So you’ve been seeing my calls but chose to ignore it ” he said putting his phone in his pocket.

“Am not ignoring it ” she replied slowly.

“Then why didn’t you pick the first, second, third and sixth time that I called? ” He demanded and his tone of voice got Judy angry.

“Am I obliged to pick your call?” She demanded in return which answered Luke question.

“You are indeed ignoring me and I would like to know why?” He asked.

“I don’t feel like talking” she replied turning to go back into her tent but Luke stopped her before she could go in.

“We need to talk about this now! ” He half yelled.

“And I don’t want to talk to you! Who do you think you are to boss me around?” Judy yelled at him in return.

“Am not bossing you around, I just want to clear the air between us” Luke said more slowly this time around.

“Clear the air? Fine then let’s do that you big time jerk!” Judy said insulting him.

“I think we are past the stage of insulting one…..”

“I heard you talking to Wilfred yesterday!” She said cutting him off.

“Wilfred?”

“Yes, Wilfred. I didn’t ask you to go talk to him but you volunteered to do so before I could stop you. I ran after you to get you to stop but when I got there it was to hear you saying those terrible things about me” Judy said with tears in her eyes and that pulled at Luke’s heart.

“Judy I….”

“I know am not pretty but that doesn’t give you the right to talk about it. I also think about it every day, I wonder why I can’t doll myself up just like the other girls does, why I can’t wear a normal dress instead of putting on this baggy clothes” she said wiping the tears that slid down her face.

“But then I realize that every one is different and that am different and so I don’t need a jerk like you to tell me that or to tell it to any one else” she said.

“Judy I didn’t mean it that way”

“Lies! you meant every thing you said to Wilfred. Every thing you said is what you think about me, to you I will always be the ugly swan who can’t catch the interest of any guy” She screamed at him.

“For a while I thought we had gotten close but I only needed to hear that to wake me up” she added slowly.

“Judy you…..”

“Stay away from me. I mean it Luke,I don’t want you close to me or to anything that has to do with me. I know it’s gonna be hard avoiding you when the others are friends but I will do my best in avoiding you, so I suggest you do the same” she said before going into her tent ignoring what ever he had to say.

“That made me full” Chloe said as she walk out of the cafeteria clutching onto her stomach.

“Thanks to that dummy David, I had to miss eating a bit earlier” She murmured as she went to her tent.

But thanks to him, I got to confirm some thing and that is Bryan, she thought putting a hand on her thumping chest.

“Am I falling in love with him?” She murmured just as Leo approach her.

“We need to talk” He said obstructing her path when she tried to walk past him.

“We have nothing to talk about and I could remember my boyfriend giving you a warning to stay away ” Chloe said liking the way she refered to Bryan as her boyfriend.

” So you refer to him as your boyfriend now?” Leo asked.

“It’s because he is my boy…..” She stopped talking when he siezed her by the arm.

“Wake up Valerie! Bryan isn’t in love with you, he’s only trying to use you to get back at me” he said shaking her.

“Stop shaking me or I might throw up what I ate a while ago on your face” she threatened which got him letting her go.

“I mean it Valerie, Bryan only wants to use you. He’s trying to use you” Leo said.

“And on what fact do you base that on?” Chloe asked.

“On the fact that Bryan has some one else he is in love with” Leo replied earning Chloe’s attention.

“In love with?” She asked nonchalantly trying to look uninterested.

“There’s a girl Bryan was dating in the past. Her name is Cathy but some thing happened which got her asking me for help. I had no choice but to help her and in the end it broke Bryan’s heart and ended their relationship”

“It’s the reason why Bryan hates me so much and also the reason why he is trying to take you from me. He thinks that I stole Cathy away from him but I never did and judging by the anger he still feel towards me, I can tell that he’s still in love with Cathy and if Cathy returns today, he will go back to her. So before he leaves you heart broken, you should come to your senses and stay away from him” Leo added.

Chloe whose heart suddenly felt saddened by what he said about Bryan being in love with Cathy forced a smile on her face.

“I don’t believe a thing you say. Bryan loves me and the person I should stay away from is you. The one who have always made me sad and made me cry a lot is you” Chloe said thinking about Valerie.

“I loved you Leo, but you disregarded my feelings and now that am over you, you want me to feel some thing again. That won’t ever happen cause my heart belongs to Bryan now” she added turning to leave but he took hold of her hand and pulled her into his arms, hugging her tight.

“Bryan will only hurt you, listen to me” he whispered into her ear while he held onto her tightly.

“Let go of me, Leo” she said trying to pull away and when he didn’t let go, she kicked him hard on the leg that he let go of her to hold onto it.

“I know how to take care of myself and so if I end up being hurt by Bryan, I will take care of it” she said running off before he could come after her.

A while later, she was strolling through the camping ground thinking about what Leo told her.

Bryan is In love with a girl called Cathy, she thought as she let out a sigh.

“Why do I feel hurt thinking about that?” She asked no one in particular.

“It’s not like I care” she muttered again.

“And besides my goal here isn’t to fall in love but to help Valerie and that’s what I…..” She got caught off when a black hood was put over her head blocking whatever she had to say!

And before she could say a thing, the two men who attacked her pulled her further into the forest…..
