Aliyah’s Pov:
I watched my little daughter who is already a big girl eat her food in so much excitement.

There has been nothing I ever wanted in my life than to see her so happy.

Nothing else gives me so much joy than seeing her happy.

“Mom you are still the good cook I now” She broke the silence.

Smiles escaped my lips as I chuckled.

“Of course child! There is no way that is gonna change.. your mommy will always be a good cook” I told her as she nodded her head with her mouth full of the food.

“Don’t mind your mommy! She’s already taking all the compliments while I helped her” I said as we shared a laugh.

“Of course I know Aunt Dora! I know you helped my Mom out.. too bad she doesn’t want to give you some accolades” She said as we all shared a laugh.

“Am glad you know I also helped in the cooking which means I contributed to the tastiness of the food right in front of us” Dora said jokingly and we laughed again.

“That’s by the way! What’s important is that you are back home with us that’s a very big achievement” I said.

“Am so happy to finally be home again Mom! You don’t know how happy I am right now” She said as she sipped the juice.

“But I was just thinking.. what if you change school! Like what if you are admitted into another school?” I suggested as her face countenance changed immediately.

“What?” She cried out.

“Why do you think so? I mean what’s wrong with her school that she should be admitted into a new school?” Dora asked surprised as well.

“Well I have a feeling that maybe whoever that had your face ruined could possibly be an enemy from the school” I said.

“No mommy! I don’t want to be admitted into a different school.. please don’t admit me into a different school” She said with a pleading voice.

I took a deep breath and turned to my friend Dora who shrugged.

“I think your mommy might be right! Cos you possibly won’t have enemies except from that school of yours” Dora tried to convince her.

“No! No!! I don’t ever want to leave my school because of what you guys think! Don’t you want me to be happy huh?” She cried out as she quickly got up.

“Arya baby please calm down! We are just suggesting not like we have already taken the decision to remove you from the school” Does tried to calm her down.

“Aunt Dora I know my mommy she will surely remove me from the school which I don’t ever want” Arya cried so loud.

“Arya this is only for your own good.. am doing this because I love you so much my child and I don’t want you to get hurt again” I said with so much concern.

“I don’t want to leave my school mommy! Am fvcking tired of all this… Infact I just lost my appetite” She said as she quickly stood up and turned to leave.

“Listen baby you can come eat your food” I said as she shrugged.

“Am not hungry anymore’ She said as she walked away and rushed upstairs.

I took a deep breath as I dropped my cutleries and scratched my head confused.

“You shouldn’t have done that” Dora said as I scoffed.

“Done what exactly? What did I do that I shouldn’t have done?” I asked.

“You know we are still celebrating her return back to the house and you brought up such issue there by changing her mood” Dora said.

“I just wanted to know her take on that.. why are you all attacking me like it’s bad for me to look out for my only daughter” I said.

“I didn’t say you did something wrong but you know this would ruin in the moment for us” She said.

“Arghhhh.. what do I do now? She won’t understand that am only looking out for her cos she’s my daughter and my only child” I mumbled.

“She’s a child and she doesn’t think as deep as you think Aliyah! You just made her so uncomfortable” Dora replied.

“But you understand me Dora don’t you? You understand that I only have her interest at heart that’s why am looking out for her?” I asked anxiously.

“I understand you girlfriend but the poor child doesn’t get you so you should have let us all enjoy this day before bringing that issue up” She said.

I scratched my head in confusion.

“So what should I do? What do you suggest I do?” I anxiously asked.

“You will have to go cheer your daughter up” She said.

“How do I even do that? I don’t know what could possibly cheer her up” I said.

Dora turned to the calendar hanged on the wall and smiled broadly.

“I think I have a very bright idea and believe me this will make your daughter sing and dance with excitement” She said.

“What exactly is that? I can’t wait to hear what you suggested” She said.

“What else do you think? Your daughter’s birthday is next two weeks” She said as I gasped with my mouth covered with my palms.

“You are right and I even didn’t remember that.. am sure she doesn’t remember as well” Dora said as I rushed out of the dinning.

“Hey don’t spoil the whole plan you should know what to say and when to say it so that she doesn’t get angry the more” Dora said.

“I will surely throw her a birthday party for her that has always been her biggest wish.. a big party according to her” I smiled.

“That’s good then go ahead so that she will be cheered up.. you caused all this afterall” She said.

I walked majestically to her room and grab the door handle but the door was locked.

“Baby please open the door” I said with the calmest voice.

“Please stay away from me mommy” She said with a teary voice…..

Arya’s Pov:

With my face buried in the pillow I sulked uncontrollably.

Why can’t Mom let me be happy?

Why does she want me to leave the school and my best friend Sofia?

I won’t let that happen.. even if she’s leaving then I won’t go with her.

I rather not go to school than let Mom remove me from the school I love so much.

Doesn’t she like it when am happy or what?

Why must she keep on making me so annoyed?

Today was supposed to be a celebration that am finally home after such a long time and now she ruined the night with what she just said.

I won’t leave the school even if that means I won’t attend any other school.

I was still sulking when my cell phone rang aloud.

I picked up my phone from the stool.. it was an unknown number.

“Who could this be?” I thought as I wiped my tears.

Maybe it’s Sofia she has different numbers and I wonder what she does with many lines.

I accepted the call and placed the cell phone on my ear.

“Hello..” The male voice echoed out of my cell phone’s speaker.

“Hello..” I managed to say.

“Uhmm… Arya I just wanted to know if you have been discharged?” The voice asked as I gulped hard.

“Oh yes but who am I speaking with please I don’t think I know this person” I replied sharply.

“You don’t have to worry yourself about who I am.. I just wanted to know if you are safe now or not” He said.

“I know you are just concerned but I also want to know who is asking after me” I snapped.

“Never mind! Welcome back to home anyways.. thank God you are ok again” He said as he hung up.

I arched my eyebrows in confusion.

I don’t think I have heard that voice before but it seems he knows me do well.

I quickly went straight to my true caller app but I still couldn’t find out who it was.

“Who is he? This isn’t Martin am sure cos that isn’t his voice” I mumbled to myself.

I was still thinking when I heard a knock on my door.

That was when I recalled that my mom annoyed me.

I frowned my face immediately and kept mute without saying a word.

“Baby Arya please open the door” I heard my mom’s voice on the door.

“Please just leave me be mommy” I screamed back at her.

“Listen baby am really sorry for what happened and I promise you that you won’t leave the school that’s a big promise” She said as smiles escaped my lips.

“Did you say you won’t take me out of the school again?” I asked anxiously.

“Yes baby! I promise you I won’t ever remove you from the school anymore” Mom replied.

I got up from the bed and unbolted the door as I quickly rushed back to the bed backing her.

Mom walked in sluggishly but I still didn’t bother to turn around.

“Arya my darling.. you know whatever I do is for your own good” Mom started as she sat heavily on my bed.

I didn’t say a word to her so I kept mute.

“I won’t ever say or do anything that will hurt you.. you do know that I want the best of everything for you Arya” She continued.

I opened my mouth to say something but I quickly closed my mouth immediately.

“Uhm.. baby have you checked the calendar recently?” She asked anxiously.

I rolled my eyes in confusion.

“Did she just say calendar? Why should I check the calendar?” I thought inwardly but I still kept shut.

“You will be turning sixteen next weekend” mom said as I couldn’t hold myself back anymore I smiled broadly though I wasn’t sure she saw me smile.

“So I have decided that am going to be throwing you a big party this year” Mom said as I gasped.

I quickly turned around to her immediately.

“You will be throwing me a party Mom?” I asked in so much excitement.

“Yes baby! You will be having a very big birthday party” She replied as I jumped for joy.

“With a huge round cake like other kids do their birthday?” I asked to make sure I wasn’t mistaking.

“Exactly baby! You will be having a grand ultimate birthday party” Mommy as as I screamed in delight.

“Thank you so much mommy! You are and will remain the best forever” I couldn’t hold my happiness back anymore.

She hugged me tightly and kisses my cheeks.

“All I want right now is to always see you happy and prosperous that’s all I will ever wish for” Mom said as I smiled broadly.

Martin’s Pov:

I was putting everything in order for school’s resumption on Monday.

I have never been this excited on going to school except today.

Alma my younger sister walked into my room and I didn’t even notice her presence cos I was so busy with the arrangement I was doing.

“What’s going on Martin?” She asked but I still didn’t even notice she was there.

She cleared her throat noisily and that startled me as I quickly turned to see her standing in akimbo and staring at me in surprise.

“What’s.. what’s with that look? You startled me.. don’t you.. don’t you know” I managed to speak up.

“I should ask you why you seem so deaf cos I’ve been standing here for the past ten minutes if am not mistaking” She said.

“Oh.. you’ve been standing here? I didn’t even notice” I said as I turned my face away.

“How would you notice when you were so absentminded smiling like you won a lottery ticket” She laughed.

“You know am so busy right now and I won’t want any form of disturbance” I wanted to discharge her.

“Of course I know you won’t want that that’s why am telling you that you seem to be going crazy these days” She said as I gulped hard.

“What are you talking about Alma? When are you ever serious” I pretended like I didn’t understand her.

“Who is she?” She asked as I gulped hard…..
