CHAPTER FOURTEEN: THE BALL 7( THE TAILOR 2)
Lord Muchen sit in the council hall, listening to each of their complaints concerning the kingdom’s financial and food scarcity ” Milord, these things need to be met and taken care of, the people are suffering”
” And what about the tax, they haven’t paid taxes in months ”
” When they are no enough food and money, how do you expect them to pay ”
” I suggest we force it out of them ” one of the council mumbles” Even if they are suffering, doesn’t mean we should”
” Are you listening to yourself “Their words are starting to get on my nerves “We are supposed to serve the people, not the other way around ”
” Silence ” I growl, getting tired of their little debate ” The people will pay taxes as they are told, and if defiled, the guards should force it out of them “Half of the councils agreed while others degree
Lord Norman, look me in the eye, he is the only one that has always seen my pattern of ruling as horrible ” They are no enough food for your people” he frowns “You still see the need to punish them ”
” If you are so interested in the people’s needs, take concern over that section ” I smile ” Whatever plan you come up with, discuss them with me and I will see if it’s possible”
” Milord, we also set up this meeting to talk about your first wife ” which made me frown “Words have it that she is sleeping around with lord Ju-li” I look at lord Norman, this man has always known how to anger me.
” How is my marriage a topic of discussion?” I mumble, face expressionless ” I don’t remember inviting you to explore my matter ”
” Lord Muchen, you are the king, your marriage can never be personal ” lord ju-gang interferes “Seeing as you are still yet to provide an heir to the throne, it brings worry ”
” Queen Mona is pregnant ”
” Indeed ” Norman mumbles” Rumor had it that miscarriage is soon approaching for her ”
” This conversation is over “Standing to my feet, the council members do the same ” am glad this meeting was held, now if you will excuse me, I have better things to attend to ”
” Like what?” Norman looks at me “Your documents have been fully looked at…..” My gaze met his and he shut up, fear wasn’t in his eyes, I know that look….even since I ascended this throne, he always has been trying to have me dethroned.
” Excuse Me” After that, I left the hall and move towards my garden, taking three more steps forward, my heart skip a beat, blink my eyes and clenched my hands right on my chest “What’s this feeling?” I frown, fear? What is it that will make me scared?
Unless it’s not mine, Jing? She should be arranging things for the ball ” li-mu” The moment I call his name, he steps forward and look in my direction “Do you have any idea of Queen Jing’s location ”
” Yes milord, the queen mother is in contact with her ” I frown at that response, and my heart clenches again, making me look at my garden, her dying means I will also perish.
” Impossible, Mother does not frighten her ” I growl ” I need to go over her quarters and find out for myself ”
” Milord, is everything alright?” Li-mu look at me with concern ” I have a feeling you have been bothering yourself with things I know not of ”
” Indeed ” I growl while my feet fasten towards Jing’s quarters, the maids and queen stare at me in shocked, I do not visit her that often and that too not in this haste “Queen Jing is very important to me ”
” Important?” Li-mu gasp ” Do you mean, you fancy her?”
” Do not be ridiculous ” I growl ” I need her to stay alive ” growling I step into her quarters, my gaze landing on her personal maid “You” I growl and she turns around and rushes towards my direction.
” Your Highness” she bow her head.
” Where is Queen Jing ”
” she is headed to the village milord, queen jing decided to meet up with the tailor herself, to get her dress for the ball”
” Tailor ” I frown “The shop in the woods”
The maid nods her head “Yes milord, it is said that he sews the best clothes ”
“Where did you get this information?”
” From queen xiang personal maid Milord” I frown at that, everybody knows that the man who lives there, is fishy, rumor always has it that people go missing in that shop but no evidence to hold him responsible.
” Are you stupid!!” I growl and she jumps up in fright “You send my wife to that location base on a stupid rumor?” Clenching my hands I look at Li-mu” Arrest her, if I don’t see Jing back here unharmed, I will have you killed” Growling I look at Li-mu” Get Xiang’s personal maid too”
” As you command” Li-mu bows his head
” Milord, I have no idea what’s happening” she look confused ” is queen Jing in trouble?”
” Get her out of my site “Out of Jing’s quarters, I watch a horse moving into the palace, the man look wounded and hurt, stopping he jumps down and rushes in my direction.
” Milord, Queen Jing ” I frown “She is in trouble “Grabbing him by the neck, I stare at him with anger.
” You dare to leave my queen there and return alive?” Growling, I lift him with just one hand ” Do you think your life is worth more than hers?”
” Milord” he struggled to speak ” forgive me” Tears drop from his eyes, and I throw him out of my sight “Speak not of this to anyone, I will be back before the ball begin “Climbing the horse, I left.
” Bingo” he chuckles and I step back “You’re queen Jing, you truly look amazing milady ” I frown at his choice of words, and the two eyes at the top vanish, looking like a normal human.
” What do you wish for, money?” I asked ” I can give you that ”
” I don’t need money milady ” he smiles “Just food ”
” I can give you a lot of food ”
He steps closer and shakes his head ” I can’t eat normal food ” I watch how his eyeballs try to arrange themselves, the movement is sick and scary ” I eat only human beings, you have such a delicious body that all I need right now is to dive my teeth into them ”
” What do you mean ” I gasped out of fear.
” This ” watched him pull one of my maids close to my direction, I had to cover my mouth from shouting, she is alive, tears dropping from her eyes but her both leg is pulled out.
I had no idea when I lost my balance and fall to the ground ” Watch my queen ” he slowly pull out her right hand, screams erupted from her mouth but he seem to enjoy it, I just watch how he kept on feeding on her arm, he eat it with so much joy and satisfaction.
The sight is ungodly but I have to get out of here, I can’t die here ” your highness ” the maid looks at me “Please help me “Tears drop from my eyes for her, she is close to dying and still wants help before she could say more, he pulls her head off her body, blood splash on my face.
” Eat ” the monster look at me “Eat from her head and I will spare you for tonight ” he smiles “Each time you eat whatever I offer you, I will spare you for a day ”
” I can’t ” shaking my head, more tears drop from my eyes ” I can’t eat someone, please spare me”
he didn’t listen to my plead, just threw her head to my body and I try catching my breath.
” I said eat!!!”

CHAPTER FIFTEEN: THE BALL 7( THE TAILOR 3)
” I said eat!!!!”
Listening to his growl, I quickly hold the head closer to my face, I watch how his dark eyes are glued to mine, he is waiting patiently for me to eat it, I don’t wish to die, if I don’t eat it, I will die.
Am not ready to die.
Lifting my hands, I place her face closer, I stare at the face how her eyes are still wide open and her lips still open from screaming, closing my eyes I didn’t hesitate to cut her cheek off, it was hard but I did it.
” Chew ” he commanded, my teeth biting them slowly while I fight off the urge to vomit “Swallow” and then I swallow it, I watch him chuckle from excitement while I cry, I can’t believe I ate human flesh, and that too my maid.
Covering my mouth, I try stopping myself from vomiting but I just couldn’t, bending down, I throw up, all I had eaten, leaving my stomach empty “Ungrateful” the monster grabs me by my hair and pull me up “How dare you to waste precious food ” I had no idea that a slap could hurt this bad, from the impact of his slap, I spit blood out and he frowns.
It’s obvious that it’s hard for him to get food ” If you let me go, I will bring food to you, I will keep this a secret and bring more humans for you to feed on”
” Do you take me as a fool” he pulls me closer to his body, our faces an inch apart “You will go running to the guards and have them capture me ”
” They won’t believe me ” I tried explaining “You already ate every one, they are nothing I could use to prove myself right ” Saying that, he let me go and I fall, trying my catch my breath, my head is also on fire, who grabs a lady hair in that manner?
” You are right in a way ” he bends down and those eyes become four again ” and if I don’t see you tomorrow evening?”
” You can kill me, am pretty sure it will be easy for you to sneak into the palace given that everyone is human ” I mumble “They are weak compare to you ”
” Or I could just eat you now ” he smile, our face is practically an inch apart, I have no idea why he love looking human, but the two eyes at the top vanish again ” am pretty sure you taste good ”
” Then you will miss the opportunity of eating other maids, different maids I will send here, just for you ” I watch how he uses his right hand to caress my face, those blue eyes stare into my soul
” Clean” he smiles ” your skin is so clean and smooth ” Why isn’t he listening to me ” I don’t think I want to let you go ”
” What do you mean ”
He withdraws then chuckle softly ” I wish to marry you “My eyes widen at his words ” I should probably turn you into a ghoul first ”
” What are you saying ” I stand to my feet, feeling offended ” am offering to bring more humans to you ”
” It’s hard to trust a human, maybe when you’re a ghoul, I will trust you ” he also stands to his feet ” Now come, let’s head into the forest ”
” Don’t touch me ” I look at him, those blue eyes turning completely black again ” I don’t wish to be like you, you kill and eat people ” he grab me by the neck and I gasp, I knew it, whenever his eyes turn black they is no talking to him, that’s why I had to eat that flesh earlier.
” You should be thankful” he growls “A man like me desiring such a stupid human, you should thank your heavens that you’re still alive ” he tightens his grip around my neck, lifting me. I struggle to breathe, hitting his hands and tears flowing from my eyes ” You will taste good ” I stare at him as he smiles, his white teeth perfectly visible. A little stain of blood on the right.
Monsters are supposed to have yellow teeth right?
After minutes of me almost dying, he let go of me, dropping me hard on the floor, I look at him “Will you become mine?” I said nothing just watch him bend once again, he lean close and lick my cheek “Hmm, you do taste good ”
” I will be yours on one condition ” I have finally decided not to die alone, if I was going to become a ghoul then I should drag her down with me.
Muchen stop his horse, this wasn’t the destination I planned to stop but the sight of Queen Jing rendered me speechless, she was able to escape. I stare at her, hair loose down, clothes ruined and blood all over her ” Jing ” getting off my horse, I move closer to her, and she looks at me and frowns.
” What are you doing here?”
” What do you think?” I growl, even in this state, she is still stubborn ” I came for you ”
” I don’t remember asking for your help ” From her eyes, one will know she passed through hell ” Since you’re here, take me home ” I didn’t move at her word “What? I thought you came to help ” holding her hand, I step closer.
” Why do you always prefer to act tough ” I frown at that ” I know you have a fragile side, show it to me once in a while ”
” And what will I gain from letting my guard down?” She looks at me, tears forming in her eyes “Death? Do you know how many queens and concubines wish for my death?” I said nothing while she continued “All of them, every single one of them”
” Jing ”
” Take me home lord Muchen ” she clean her tears ” I wish to wash them off ” On any usual day I will put on more fight but she looks tired, barely holding herself, lifting her, I help her to sit on the horse while I sit behind her, her back rest on my body.
” I will kill him Jing ” growling, I clench my hands ” I promise ” After those words, I notice how her body becomes a little heavier which means she has passed out, I should rush back to the palace.
” How is she “That was my first word, the movement the physician checked on her, it has been two hours and she is still unconscious.
” No serious injury milord ” he replied “She needs rest due to the loss of blood in her body but then, I could not find any injury on her that would have proven such a high amount of blood lost ” I did cause that.
” Just keep treating her “Stepping out of my chamber, li-mu rush towards where I stood “Any news ”
” The shop is nowhere to be found in the village milord ” Looking at Li-mu, I frown, how did Jing escape, what creature did she encounter and how did she manage to deal with all these “Not even in the woods, we checked and ask people around but everyone speaks the same word ”
” Same word ”
” They have never heard of such a tailor shop before, it never existed ”
” How suspicious ” I watch the physician leave and I walk right back into my chamber, watching her sleep “Something is wrong, seeing how damaged she looked, am pretty sure, something did happen”
” Yes milord ” his voice grew close ” Some villagers also mention that people get missing every week but the respected family always deny the fact that they ever had such a child ”
” Li-mu ” I look at him, my curiosity fed already.
” Yes milord ” he replies, with anger ” damn ghouls”
” What are they doing here?” I frown ” am pretty sure I killed every single one of them centuries back “Clenching my hands, I look at this stupid body I had to borrow” My power can’t even flow properly in this “Shaking my head I look at Jing ” I have to protect her”
” Milord, why do you fear Jing’s death ”
” My dear friend ” I smile ” if Jing dies” I look at him ” I will die, and trust me….not romantically”
” The witch ”
” Indeed ” my gaze moves back to a sleeping Jing ” I need you to do a background check on Jing and make sure nothing disrupts the ball this evening ”
” As you wish milord ”
Things might get even more interesting.
