CHAPTER TWENTY- FOUR: THE DEVIL LOOK ALIKE
Jing step back and clenched her hand “You must be out of your mind ”
” Do I look insane to you?”
” Certainly” growling, I look around, time is wasted, I don’t want Edward to start looking for me, it will only cause trouble, I need to get out of here and fast ” I don’t have time for this”
” Jing ”
” Let me be milord ”
” For what purpose” his frown deepen ” to meet that ghoul of yours?” These accusations were right but I still felt hurt and disturbed at the fact that he is right, how much does he know? Is they more to his knowledge?
” And now you’re making me feel like a cheating wife ”
” Aren’t you?”
” Milord ” I fake a crying sound ” do not accuse me of things you know nothing of ”
“Hmmm”
Clenching my hands together, he said nothing more, just walk pass me, back towards his closet, it was a free ticket to leave but I couldn’t, the fact he is letting me go so soon was surprising.
What is he planning?
I watch him put on some clothes while my mind was far away ” You’re still here ” his voice brought me back ” I thought you had something doing?” I recognize that voice, his cold tone is back and it’s now I realized how he had changed throughout this week, only for me to bring it back.
” Yes, I did say that ”
” Then get going” he mumbled ” I wish to be alone ”
” If you insist ” shaking my head, I push out all the thoughts that involved me staying here and letting whatever wishes to happen, happen. I have things I need to correct, and Muchen going back to his cold shoulders is not one of them.
Turning around, I walk in haste back to my quarters, everywhere seems dark, a little too dark for my liking, my maids and carriage are nowhere to be found, only because Muchen drag me to his quarters on foot.
” Milady?” Fang rush in my direction when she got a glimpse of me, approaching the quarters, I look at her and she understood immediately “No milord, the physician is yet to talk”
” Where do you think he is being held ”
” The old castle milady ” Fang responded “South way ” she mumble while I look through my dresses for the simplest” Do you propose we move in that direction?”
” Yes fang ” I reply ” but it has to be discreet”
” Discreetly?”
” Yes, I want no one to be aware of our location, not even your shadow, just us ”
” As you wish milady ”
” Leave me for now ” she did as I said, I changed into a lady’s short garment and move towards the window, waiting for ten minutes, Edward finally show up, with a bright smile planted on his face.
” Jing ” he smiles ” you look beautiful tonight”
I have no time for chats ” I need to go Edward ” replying without flirty in my voice, he gave me furrowed brows ” I have something urgent to handle ”
” The physician?” He is the second person that said something which had me surprised ” And now you’re wondering how I know that ”
” How did you?”
” Am always with you Jing ” he smile ” am really satisfied you pushed that man away from you earlier, if he had touched you, I don’t know how to react”
They are something I realized about Edward, if he wishes to kill someone, he will say it effortlessly, his words concerning Muchen, made me furrow my brows” You mean you won’t kill him? ”
” Kill him ?” Edward chuckles “Revealing myself will get me killed ” I frown at his words
” Of course ” replying, I shake my head, not ready to think deeply about what he just said ” I have to go ”
” Let me ……”
I snapped” Stay away from me Edward!” I had no idea when I growl “You are not even supposed to be seeing me until you are done with what I asked ”
” You raised your voice at me?” He jump into my room and I step back, hands clenched “Do you think you’re special because I choose to have you?” He growls, those eyes turning completely dark, he is losing his mind “You are just a toy to warm my bed ”
” Am busy right now ”
” Too busy for me? You think you run the shots, don’t you?” He steps closer and then stops an inch away from me “You think you can control me, is that it?”
” Yes ” I growl ” Was I wrong?” My words made him grab me by the neck, didn’t tighten his hands nor did he lift me, just lean closer to the point that he breathes on my face “Let go of me, Edward ”
” You do not order me!”
Frowning I growl ” I said now!!!” I had no idea what he saw in my eyes, but he step back like a wounded dog and then vanish out of sight.
I remain standing, eyes wide open, lips parted a little, and cold in my whole body, is he scared of me? Did I do something that made him vanish “Milady” I turn around and stare at Fang
” How long?????”
” The whole conversation milady ” Fang replied, bending her head “Forgive me if I speak out of tone most times ”
” It’s alright, now …..” she cut me short
” Now you should stay away from Edward, he will kill you if given the chance ”
” What are you talking about” I look at her, if my thinking is right, it wasn’t my eyes that scared Edward, it was Fang.
” No milady, I have nothing to do with him running away ” Her response made me realize that I said that out loud ” It was all your doing, and trust me, milord, you won’t want to stay close to that monster ”
” You know something ” I frown “What is it?” Watching he step closer, she pulls down her dress, turn around and I gasp, a huge scar of fingers permanent on her body
” I do not know about a ghoul starting in the shop, I didn’t but I have met one before ” she turn around and look at me ” he was my husband to be, I thought being a monster meant nothing, I thought they were just created differently, until the day he tried to kill me ” I had no words to say to fang, she put on her clothes then smile ” milady please be careful, I know not of what your plan is but these creatures are dangerous”
” Fang”
” My Queen ”
” What are they mostly afraid of?”
” Witches milady ” I frown, with all that am discovering today, all these paranormal creatures do exist” Witches hunt them down for their heart”
” Heart?’
” Yes milady, it replenishes their soul energy, more like life force ”
” How do you know of all these ”
” I studied milady ” She smiled and I nod, completely lost in thought before she said more “Milady, the old palace, we have to hurry ”
I almost forgot “Oh yes ” rushing, we hasten my feet out of my quarters, through the back door, and head towards the old palace, the walk there will be long, usually, I won’t feel anything, but the lack of stars or moon in the sky freak me out, everywhere is completely dark
” It’s you?” Hearing that voice, I turn around to find queen hua ” You killed Xiang?” Hatred was evident in her eyes and I had no idea when I step back.
She looked like the devil himself.

CHAPTER TWENTY- FIVE: EVENING STROLL 1
” Queen Hua, what reasons bring you out here ” I mumble the moment I catch my breath ” Surely you don’t plan on sleeping in the south castle?”
” You mean the old castle?” She growl “No my queen, on the contrary, I have come to grab you to the king ” I use my fingers to alert Fang to keep moving and she did, discreetly, hua eyes haven’t even left my face for a second
” And for what reasons are you planning on….. What was the word you use again?” I smile “Oh yes, drag” I can’t help to think about how she found out what I did, I didn’t even use my hands to directly kill her
” Drop the act, you evil queen ” she growl but a hint of a smile on her face ” I knew fully well the ghoul will show up this night and just as I expected, his scent was coming from your quarters ”
” Queen Hua ” I fake a confused look ” What are you talking about? What’s a ghoul? And the scent, how can you perceive something from your quarters?” That astonishes me, is that even normal?
” I know what you’re trying to do ”
” Queen Hua, you have no evidence that proves what you’re saying ” I growl ” And a ghoul? Don’t be silly, nobody will believe you ”
” Queen Jing!”
” Do not raise your voice at me hua ” It’s obvious that am wasting time ” I have something important to attend to and your false accusations are not helping?”
” Force?” She chuckle, her hands around her stomach as she laugh in delight ” Do you really think this is over, I do feel bad that I can’t just kill you and have this over with, but then, I need the king to see the kind of person he married ”
” And you?” I step closer to her, my anger growing at her last sentence “You just mention the fact that you wished you could do away with me….that only means you have killed before” I watch those smiles washes off his face “You pretending to be a good little queen?” Folding my hands, I look down at her “Just get out of my sight permanently, you disgrace of a queen ”
” How dare you” I had no idea when she slap me across the cheek, surprisingly I fell at the force of it, that’s no normal strength. Two queens fighting outside their quarters this late is not something I wish for them to write in the newspaper.
” How dare you!” I grow, clenching my hands and she grins.
” Who’s the disgrace now?” With that, she turn around and left, leaving me on the floor with heater cheeks, feels like it was on fire, I really should know who I can provoke. Don’t wish to get killed one of these days.
” My queen” Hearing Fang’s voice, I watch him rush towards my direction and help me up, I look at the sky and notice the stars are back, weird, really weird ” Are you okay?”
” Yes fang ” coughing, I look at him, I notice how her clothes look a little too rough and the tiny dagger in her hands which is clothed with blood ” Fang?” She follows my gaze and then mumble
” The physician was resisting and trying to run away ”
” And?”
” I believe it will be better if we…..”
I cut her off “Don’t tell me, you killed him?”
” Of course not milady ” she shakes her head ” I only cut off his tongue and fingers, and now he can’t talk or write ” Nodding at her words, I look at her more carefully
” I had no idea you are capable of doing that ”
” I have done a lot of things for you milady, surely you should know that this just happened to be a child pay” She smile widely and I nod my head, returning the smile
” What will I do without you fang ”
” Indeed my queen ” After that, the walk
Back to my quarters was silent and a little comforting, I am glad Fang took care of things got me but what I learned about Fang today has changed the way I feel about her.
Can she be trusted? Of course, I have been trusting her for years now and things are completely fine, I shouldn’t think of anything else, fang won’t betray me, am sure they are other things, she knows, it’s her life, and her choice to tell me anything.
” Milady ” Fang mumbled” You troubled ”
” It’s nothing”
Arriving in my chamber, I shut the door and move towards my bed, sleep eludes me and I Know not the reason, I have done whatever I wished to be done but some things are not adding up.
I do not wish to spend my night here, can I sneak into the king’s quarters? Surely he won’t push me away, I mean I did refuse his offer earlier today, I should just lay down and sleep, am being too paranoid.
Getting up, I take off my clothes and decided to shower, moving into the bathroom, I take a cold bath, eyes closed and thoughts all over the place, I just can’t stop thinking about Fang, and my question is if she is human?” She should be, I mean why not?”
” But she can hold down a grown man who is five times her size and cut his tongue off, is that human strength?” Listening to that voice, I shake my head
” Of course, they are women who are strong and I trust Fang, if she was one of those nightly creatures, she will disclose that to me ”
” I can see you trust her ” I knew for a fact that I was alone in the bath before I could hear this particular voice, I tried opening my eyes but it seem quite difficult “It’s a good thing, people like you find it hard to trust someone ”
” People like me?” I frown ” Who are you and why can’t I open my eyes?”
” Fear not, I use no magic on you…..it’s just my little curse ”
” Curse?”
” Silly me ” whoever it was a chuckle, I knew it was a woman from the sound of her voice “It’s not a curse, I can’t have you seeing me, it will mess with your brain ”
Today has been stressful enough, I do not have the strength to deal with all these, maybe am just overthinking and trying to form more creatures around me, which is obviously why am heading this voice.
Relaxing my mind and body, I realized the voice is gone and when I try to open my eyes, I did. Nobody needed to tell me anything before I ran out of the bathroom and into my chamber, shutting the door ” I hate to admit things but that was off-putting” When I successfully turn around, my heart almost jump out of my body from fright and so I yell.
” You shouldn’t be that scared ” Muchen replied” Guards will come”
” How? Why? When?” I gasp out the words with no organization in them, he look at me, no this time he look at me very different gaze, those weren’t red, oh no….they were completely dark ” milord ”
” This will be a long night for both of us Jing” I furrow my brows at his words ” will you like to have a stroll with me?”
” This late?” I mumble, stepping back and he folds his hands
” Don’t tell me you think I will murder you?” He smiled ” I simply want to spend time with you, you see ” he step closer “Sleep eludes me ”
” What does that have to do with me?”
” It’s your fault that I haven’t eaten properly for days” he replied ” I can’t sleep on a hungry stomach ”
” What are you trying to tell me?” Looking at him, he step back and stretch his body “Everybody else tastes bitter, I don’t wish to go around for nothing” I watch him move towards the window which gave me enough time to put on my night dress, no bra or underwear, just the night dress in a very Swift movement ” it’s a full moon Jing ” I look at him while he turns slightly to look at me. I flinch at the look in his eyes ” It’s a full moon and am starving, how horrible can this day get?”
I now get the meaning of those eyes, he is looking at me like his dinner and when his gaze lowered to my chest, he lick his lips my face heat up “You look ravishing” She turn completely in my direction ” Now, that stroll”
