CHAPTER FIFTY-SEVEN: SEED OF HATRED

In the dimly lit underground chamber that served as our secret hideout, Lady Margaret and I met in hushed secrecy. The air was thick with tension as we discussed our shared vendettas and the devious plans we had been weaving in the shadows.

Lady Margaret leaned forward, her eyes gleaming with malice as she spoke, “Mona, I have a proposition that will finally allow us to achieve our long-sought goals. You want Muchen back, and I want to see Jing removed from the palace and killed.” Lady Margaret do seem like someone that wants my help but if I remember carefully, she was also I love with Muchen, why isn’t she trying to get him back? Why help me?

“What are you suggesting, Margaret?”I have to see where all these is heading to.

Her voice was like a snake’s hiss as she spoke. “I have information about Queen Jing, her past, and her true identity. Knowledge that help you”

” You said that before, why do you keep repeating yourself” My interest in this particular conversation decreased ” why do you seem so interested in me having lord Muchen to myself, I know you fancy him ”

” I do ”

” Then why all these?”

” I already accept the fact that he won’t return my feelings, that’s why I have no Intention of stealing him from you but I need Jing dead ” something doesn’t sit right with this conversation” Mona, do not think we are allies, I just need Jing dead and your assistance is required”Lady Margaret smiled darkly

I considered the offer, knowing that bringing Muchen back and securing my place as his queen would require cunning and ruthless actions. “I agree. Tell me what you know, Margaret, and I’ll do whatever it takes.”

Margaret’s grin widened. “Not so fast, I need to know if you’re capable enough”

” For what?” I watch her pull out three seed from her purse ” what’s that?”

” Seed of hatred, whoever eat this will hate the person they deeply love and love the one they hate”

” Do you mean?”

” Yes” she nod ” but it can only last for a week, that’s why we need to move fast, to completely destroy Jing and Muchen relationship, you need to feed him this”

I nodded in agreement, understanding that Lady Margaret held a very power weapon that could change my life completely.

As I left the secret hideout with Lady Margaret, her sinister plan still echoing in my mind, I couldn’t help but feel a strange sense of doubt creeping in. The risk of executing this plan was immense. If anything went wrong, it wasn’t just my reputation that would be tarnished; my life would be in jeopardy. Muchen, with all his power and fury, was not someone to trifle with.

But the a thought of being with him again, of having him by my side, clouded my judgment. The thought of reclaiming the love and power I’d lost was an intoxicating temptation, and I knew I had to go through with this plan. It was my only chance to win Muchen back.

With a heavy heart and a head filled with uncertainty, I ventured into the heart of the palace, determined to carry out Lady Margaret’s daring scheme.

The guards posted at Muchen’s chamber barely cast me a second glance. After all, I was the former queen, and it was no secret that I had once shared this room with Muchen.

I entered his opulent chamber, heart pounding like a drum. The sense of nostalgia was overwhelming, and the memories of our passionate nights came flooding back. It felt like stepping into a cherished past that had been cruelly stolen from me.

Jing stole everything from me, his love, his heart, everything and I will never forgive her for this, I will never support it.

As I changed into a seductive dress, my hands trembled with a mixture of anticipation and fear. Muchen’s reaction was uncertain; he could be furious or, as I secretly hoped, still harboring some of his former affection for me. I knew the risk I was taking was substantial, but the potential reward was too alluring to resist, they is no certainty that this will not work.

Muchen might still harbour great feelings for me, he might still wish for me in his arms, I just need to have my hopes up.

The chamber was dimly lit, candles casting flickering shadows across the opulent furnishings. I dropped the cup of coffee I made with the seed on the table, laid down on his bed, feeling the softness of the silk sheets against my skin. I waited in the darkness, my heart pounding like a captive bird.

Moments later, the door creaked open, and I felt a rush of excitement and anxiety. Muchen had entered the room. He stood in the doorway for a second, his tall, imposing figure framed by the dim light, before stepping into the room.

Our eyes locked, and I saw a flicker of recognition in his gaze. For a heartbeat, it seemed as though he was seeing me, Queen Mona, once again.

But then, his expression changed. It was no longer one of affection or longing. Instead, it was a mixture of surprise, suspicion, and an underlying anger. His piercing eyes bore into me, and I felt a shiver of unease.

I knew then that this risky seduction was not going as smoothly as I’d hoped. Muchen had become a different man, and I had no idea what his reaction would be. The stakes had been raised, and I was now entangled in a dangerous game of emotions, power, and deceit.

Muchen stepped into his chamber, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease. The events of the past week had left me restless and consumed by thoughts of Queen Jing. Fang still holds her loyalty to Alexander tight, she refuse to speak a single word even after all the torture she received.

I hadn’t seen Mona for awhile, if I remember carefully I told her to get out of the palace and my sight, I don’t even have the energy to deal with this but the sight that greeted me as I entered my chamber was a shock. There, reclining on my bed in a seductive dress, was Queen Mona. Her presence was an unwelcome intrusion into my life, especially at this time when I was tormented by thoughts of Jing.

I felt anger and frustration bubbling inside me. What was she doing here? Had she come to manipulate me in some way?

I opened my mouth to demand an explanation, but she beat me to it. She began talking, her voice laced with a mixture of longing and regret. She brought up our shared memories, moments from our past that doesn’t matter to me, one bit. The words she spoke were meant to stir emotions within me, but all they did was fuel my anger.

“Mona,” I finally managed to say, my voice colder than I intended. “What are you doing here?”

She paused, as if she was trying to find the right words. “I came here to remind you of the love we once had, Muchen. I thought you would want to remember.”she smile ” I made you coffee” she stood up, grab the cup and move closer.

I didn’t hesitate to hit the cup off her hand, I watch it fall down, she gasped. I didn’t want to remember, not the pain, not the betrayal, and certainly not the turmoil she had brought into my life. “Mona, the past is the past. I’ve moved on. You should too.” My voice growing cold ” I do not wish to see or speak of you, can’t you see how stupid you look?”I frown at what she put on, the white dress is transparent, I could see everything.

She reached out to touch my arm, and I flinched away, the anger inside me growing. “Muchen, please—”

Before she could finish, Li-mu burst into the room, a sense of urgency in his eyes. He held a note in his hand, and he handed it to me without a word. The message was short but to the point—information about Jing’s possible whereabouts.

My heart raced as I read the message. I knew I had to leave immediately to follow this lead, to find Queen Jing and bring her back safely. But I couldn’t shake the anger and confusion brought on by Mona’s sudden reappearance.

“Get out,” I hissed at her, my voice dripping with anger and frustration. “I have no time for your games. Leave, and don’t ever come near me again.”I glare at her ” mark my words, the next time, I see you…..I will have you beheaded for the abomination in your stomach”

” Milord” tears drop from her eyes ” I love you, please let me…..”

Averting my gaze from her, I look at li-mu” inform everyone in the palace about Mona impeachment, she is no longer to be seen in the palace”

” As you command milord” li-mu bow his head

I turned and strode out of the chamber, my thoughts consumed by the urgency of the situation. Behind me, I heard Mona’s voice, a mixture of despair and disappointment, but I didn’t look back. My heart was set on finding Jing, and nothing, not even the haunting presence of the past, would stand in my way.

Jing awoke to the soft, morning light filtering through the curtains, casting a warm, golden glow in the room. The events of the previous day and the surreal circumstances I now found myself in came rushing back to me. Reon, the mysterious man who had taken me in, lay sound asleep beside me.

I frown, why are we on same bed? My gaze wondered down to my dress and I gasp in relief, my dress is in intact, did he fall asleep here by mistake?

For a moment, I just watched him sleep. His features appeared less intense in slumber, and a sense of calm washed over him that I hadn’t seen before. As I observed him, I couldn’t deny that there was an allure about him, a charisma that drew me in. But this was no time for such thoughts. I needed to escape from this unfamiliar place.

Gently, I slipped out of bed, careful not to wake Reon. My mind raced as I considered my options. I had no idea where I was, and I couldn’t trust this man yet. My focus was on finding my way back to the palace, back to Muchen.

The floor was cool beneath my feet as I dressed in the clothes Reon had provided, I couldn’t help but notice their quality. They were far from what I was accustomed to, further evidence that this man lived a life far different from my own.

With a final glance back at the sleeping Reon, I hesitated. He seemed harmless enough in his slumber, but my instincts told me I couldn’t stay. I had to make a quiet escape while I still could.

The house was unfamiliar, and I had no knowledge of its layout. My heart raced as I silently made my way through the corridors, searching for an exit. The place was eerily quiet, adding to the unsettling feeling of being in a stranger’s home.

I finally found a back door that led to a small, lush garden. It was a beautiful sight, but I couldn’t let myself be distracted by its beauty. I needed to get away.

As I stepped outside, a sense of freedom washed over me, along with a hint of anxiety. My escape was far from complete. I had to navigate this unfamiliar forest, who lived deep in the forest, away from people…..that’s simply suspicious.

My heart raced with fear and uncertainty. Everything around me felt strange, foreign, and alien. The forest was shrouded in a deep silence that only intensified my feelings of isolation.

The tress were oddly still, no breeze and the air stuffy.

I couldn’t trust Reon or his empty promises. Waiting for Muchen to come seemed like a foolish idea, especially when I had no way of knowing if he even knew I was here, am not even sure if Reon ever sent a message in the first place.

The forest was dense, and the trees towered over me like ancient sentinels, their branches creating a thick canopy that covered the sky.

My breath was ragged as I stumbled over uneven branch. I had no sense of direction, no idea where I was headed, only a desperate need to get away.

Suddenly, I heard the sound of approaching footsteps. Panic surged through me. I turned to see Reon following me, his eyes filled with concern and his voice trying to reason with me. “Jing, please, just wait for the king. He’s coming. You’re not safe out here alone.”

I couldn’t afford to listen to him. My life was at stake, and I couldn’t trust anyone, not after what had happened with Margaret. In my hand, I found a fallen stick, my only means of defense. Without thinking, I swung it at Reon, the makeshift weapon connecting with his shoulder.

He cried out in pain as he staggered back. The momentary distraction was all I needed. I turned and sprinted deeper into the forest, pushing through underbrush, and dodging tree roots.

“Jing, please!” I heard Reon’s voice behind me, but I couldn’t stop. Fear propelled me forward. I didn’t know where I was going, but I had to keep moving, away from anyone who could be a threat.

As I ran deeper into the forest, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. The ground beneath my feet grew uneven, and my breath came in short gasps. I was running blindly, hoping to find safety somewhere, anywhere.

The forest seemed endless, and with every step, my legs grew heavier. The fear of the unknown and the realization of how far I was from the palace weighed on me. What had become of my life? How had I ended up in this treacherous place?

But I couldn’t stop. I couldn’t afford to. My life depended on it. And so, with every ounce of strength left in me, I pushed forward, deeper into the forest, with one hope ” Muchen, please find me”
