Kyle who was existng the principal’s office, heard the commotion and ran to the class.

His jaw clenched when he saw Carly on the floor being bullied.

One glare from him to the class made them stop.

The Beverly brothers are like gods in the school and no one dares defy them.

He looked at his brother with so much anger but then again, it wasn’t his fault he’s like this.

His eyes soften at his brother who was staring at him with an emotionless face.

He squatted and pulled Carly up.

He brushed her hair backward, brought out an handkerchief and wiped her face with it.

He led her out of the class.

They reached the restroom and he signalled Carly to go clean up.

Secs later, Carly came out a little better.

He held her hand and took her to the class.

The girls couldn’t stop murmuring and giving Carly killer looks.

Kyle and Brett are their crush and they wouldn’t want a low life like Carly to take one of them away.

Class went on with Carly beside Kyle.

Carly just kept mute with her head bowed.

School was finally over so Kyle led Carly to his car.

He had earlier decided to take Carly shopping but he forget his credit card at home.

Brett got in his own car and without wasting a sec, he sped off.

Kyle started his car and he drove out.

He stole glances of Carly as he drove but Carly’s eyes was just fixed on the road.

‘she must have felt bad cause of what the class did to her’ Kyle thought.

Who the hell wouldn’t feel bad?

They arrived home and alighted.

Brett’s car was already parked in the drive way.

Carly walked in and Kyle followed.

The sight Kyle and Carly met in the sitting room shocked them.

“what are you doing ” Kyle asked.

In the sitting room stood Brett with his baggage.

“leaving the house of course ” he blurted out.

“why ” Kyle asked.

“I can see she’s not ready to leave and I can’t stay in the house a girl lives in ” he said sternly.

Kyle looked over to Carly with soft eyes, telling her to excuse them.

Carly got the message and ran up the stairs.

‘please God, touch his heart to let me stay ‘ Carly prayed as she walked into her room.

Carly knew if anyone was gonna leave the house, it’d be her.

Back in the sitting room, Kyle walked closer to his little brother.

“you know you can’t leave ” he said softly.

“we’re brothers and we ought to be together ” he said.

He couldn’t bare the thought of living without his brother, at least not on issues.

“you know very well I hate girls but you still brought her here and you wanna let her stay ” Brett snarled.

“Brett, trust me, she’ll stay within limits so please don’t leave ” he pleaded.

He noticed Brett’s eyes w-t and he pulled him into a hug.

They’ve really gone through a lot and he’s more hurt cause his little brother is hurt.

His brother doesn’t like girls and it isn’t his fault so he’s not gonna blame him for anything neither is he gonna support him nor let him be like that.

He patted his brother’s back and whispered soothing words to him.

They disengaged and he helped him return his bags into his room.

Brett laid on his bed without a word and closed his eyes.

Kyle went to Carly and took her shopping for new clothes.

Actually they have girls clothes in the house cause they had a sister but Kyle knew if he gives Carly their sister’s clothes, Brett would chop off Carly’s head.

After shopping for new clothes which Kyle himself did, they drove home.

Carly took the clothes Kyle bought her and went to her room.

She’s more than grateful and she wished she could show him that.

She took her bathe and changed into one of the clothes they bought.

A skirt that reached above her knees and a crop top.

She looked at the mirror and sighed.

Since when has she dressed like this?

She remembered her brother and shut her eyes tight to block out those memories.

She took her diary and sat on the bed, ready to scribble things down.

In Kyle’s room, he had just taken his bathe.

After he dressed up he went to check up on Brett to see if he was still asleep and he was.

He heaved a sigh of relief and headed out.

Brett’s just 19 and Kyle’s 22 so he has to look after his little brother.

His phone rang and he brought it out to check the caller.

He cussed when he saw it was from the company.

“speak ” he ordered into the phone.

“I’ll be there soon ” he said and hung up.

He sighed and dug his phone in his pocket.

He went to Carly’s room.

He knocked before going in.

He met Carly on the bed jotting things down on her diary.

He was overwhelmed by her beauty and how the clothes fit her perfectly.

Her legs were exposed and they were flawless.

He blinked back to reality so he wouldn’t make a fool of himself in front of her.

“I’m going out but before that, I’ll order pizza and when you’re hungry you can go eat ” he said.

He waited for her response or at least a reaction but got nothing.

“Ook, I’ll go now ” he said.

He hesitated before going out.

Since Brett was asleep, he didn’t wanna wake him up so he just went downstairs.

He ordered the pizza and waited till it arrived.

He kept it in the kitchen and went out.

He boarded his car and drove out.

Carly was done writing in her diary so she decided to take a walk.

She walked round the upper part of the house and came to a room that was slightly opened.

At first, she wanted to ignore it but decided to close it.

She caught sight of the beautiful room and decided to see more.

She opened the room and went in.

Her eyes wandered everywhere as she looked around the well decorated room.

Pictures were plastered at every angle of the room.

The pictures were of two girls.

More like a woman and a girl and she wondered who they were.

The girl looked so beautiful with plumped cheeks and luscious l-ips.

She wondered where these people are cause Kyle and Brett are the only ones she’s seen.

Just when she wanted to take more stops forward, she felt someone behind her.

She turned to see Brett with clenched jaw.

His fist was in a ball and his knuckles was turning white.

His eyes dark and void of emotion.

“how dare you ” he heard his cold voice say.

Her heart pounded hærd in her chest and right away, she didn’t care of how wicked the world is, she just wanna run out of this house.

Kyle is not even home to help her.

She knew today, she’d meet her parents and brother wherever they are.

Chapter 4 🌻 🌻.

Carly froze on her s₱0t as she trembled.

Her legs seemed to be glued to the tiled floor.

“how dare you enter my room ” he said coldly.

Carly’s l-ips trembled like she wanted to speak but it seemed hærd.

“out! ” she heard.

She immediately ran out of the room.

She reached her room and plumped down on her bed to catch her breath.

Where did she had the courage to enter his room.

Gosh! She didn’t even know it was his room.

She laid on the bed and got under the duvet.

She was hungry but now she’s more than satisfied.

Brett is the second person to make her scared like this after the man that murdered her family.

She curled into a ball under the duvet as she trembled.

Had it been her brother was alive, Brett can’t make her scared like this, no one can.

She closed her eyes and for the first time in years that she could remember, she slept off.

A car could be seen drive into the driveway of the beautiful mansion.

Kyle alighted his car and walked to the porch.

He opened the door and walked in.

He met Brett in the sitting room, eating pizza.

“this looks like the pizza I ordered ” he said.

He paused and arched his brow at his brother.

“tell me it isn’t ” he demanded.

“well it is ” Brett replied, his eyes never leaving the TV.

“OMG! Then what did she eat ” he asked, a little shocked.

He knew he had spent quite a long time in the office and there was no food apart from that pizza in the house so what the hell could “she” had eaten?

Brett’s eyes left the TV and met with his brother’s grey ones.

“whatever she eats is not my problem ” he remarked and turned back to the TV.

Kyle rolled his eyes and ran up the stairs.

He reached Carly’s room and knocked on the door.

He knocked thrice but got no response.

He twisted the knob, slightly pushed the door open and took in his head.

He saw Carly’s figure on the bed covered with duvet from head to toe.

It’s rare for someone to get under the duvet and sleep.

He knew something was wrong so he decided to ask Carly.

He entered her room and sat beside her on the bed.

He gently removed the duvet from her face and ran his hand down her cheek.

Her eyes flew open and Kyle flinched.

Carly sprung to her butt and hugged Kyle.

Kyle was shocked by her act but slowly wrapped his hands around her.

Carly felt safe around Kyle cause he’s the only one who likes her.

She knew Kyle would never scare her like his brother do.

She pulled away and Kyle smiled at her.

“what happened ” Kyle asked.

“did you eat ” Kyle asked and she nodded no.

Kyle smiled inwardly cause she nodded at him.

At least, she’s reacting to him now.

“why ” Kyle asked.

He waited for her response but saw she wasn’t ready to speak up.

“come, we’ll go find something to eat ” he said and took her hand.

He helped her out of the bed and led her downstairs.

Carly wrapped her hand around Kyle’s arm tightly when she caught sight of Brett.

Kyle noticed this and looked over to Brett who was staring at them.

He smiled at Carly and led her to the couch.

He sat and Carly sat beside him.

Carly dare not look to Brett’s side.

Kyle brought out his phone and ordered sushi for the both of them.

Mins later, the food arrived and Kyle went to get it with Carly beside him.

He led Carly to the dinning and they both ate.

Carly went up to her room after eating cause with Brett in the sitting room, it’s more than awkward.

“what did you do ” Kyle asked Brett as soon as Carly was outta sight.

“I’m asking you something ” Kyle yelled.

“I think you should buy a cage to lock up that animal you regard as a girl so she would know where and where not to enter in this house ” Brett replied coldly and walked up the stairs.

Kyle cussed and plumped down on the couch.

Mins later, he ran up the stairs and stopped at Brett’s room.

He knocked gently before going in.

Brett was seated on the two person sofa that was in his room.

Kyle sighed and walked up to him.

He sat beside him but Brett ignored his presence like he never existed.

“I’m sorry ” Kyle said softly.

“I’m sorry for yelling at you ” he added.

He hærdly yells at his brother but he did today and that too cause of a girl.

He knew his brother hates girls but still, he yelled at him for a girl and for that, he’s really really sorry.

“I’m sorry, okay? ” he asked and Brett nodded.

He smiled and hugged him.

“better stop spending your time in sulking over passed pains and get prepared for tomorrow’s lectures” Kyle said and he chuckled.

Kyle felt happy cause it’s been like ages since his brother smiled, talk more of a chuckle.

He ruffled his hair and left the room.

The day went by and Kyle ate dinner with Carly in her room while Brett ate in the dinning himself.

He felt hurt and alone cause his brother no more eats with him but with that bitch.

Those are what girls are good at, manipulation.

After he had dinner alone, he went up to his room.

He laid on his bed, switched off his light and slept off.

Back to Carly’s room, she sat on the bed with Kyle beside her.

“time to sleep ” Kyle said and got up.

He smiled at her and headed to the door.

Instead of Carly to lay on her bed, he saw her beside the window, staring at the stars.

“what are you doing? You should be sleeping not staring at the stars ” Kyle said, sarcasm visible in his tone.

He walked up to her and took her hand.

He led her to the bed and signaled her to lay down but Carly nodded no.

He tried helping her to bed but she refused.

“OK, maybe you’re not sleepy so I’d just leave you ” he said softly.

He gave her a look that Carly could barley understand before going out.

Carly knew he was confused as to why she wouldn’t sleep.

She wished she could just open up to him.

She went to the window and sat beside it.

She folded up her knee and rested her head, staring up at the stars.

Night went by so quick for Carly of course and she got down from the window when it was dawn.

She went to the bathroom and tidied up.

She put on a jean and a tank top that fit her perfectly well.

She packed her hair in ponytail and headed out of her room.

She saw Kyle setting the table and Kyle flashed her a smile when he saw her.

She descended the stairs and walked up to Kyle.

The doorbell rang and Kyle signalled Carly to go get it.

Already at the door, she paused.

What if it was those bad people that killed her family.

Have they found out where she was?

Have they come to kill her?

Those thoughts ran through her head and she immediately raced back to Kyle.

She hid behind him and Kyle arched his brow.

He gave Carly a weird look and headed to the door.

Carly hid under the table as Kyle walked to the door.

Kyle opened the door and a girl stepped in.

She was the same age as Carly.

“Amber ” Kyle called with so much enthusiasm.

He hugged her and ushered her in.

Carly got out when she saw it was just a girl.

The girl called Amber arched her brow when she saw Carly then looked over to Kyle for an introduction.

“Amber, this is Carly and Carly, this is Amber, Brett’s friend” Kyle introduced.

‘so he’s got a friend ‘ Carly thought.

“more like enemy now ” Amber corrected.

Ever since the incident happened, Brett has never been the same and he doesn’t like girls again, including Amber his friend.

Amber hasn’t been coming over cause Brett clearly doesn’t need her anymore but she just decided to drop by today.

Brett descended the stairs and everyone’s gaze drifted to him.

Amber slowly waved at him but he looked away like she didn’t exist.

He walked passed them and walked outta the house.

Amber sighed and tucked her hands in her cardigan pocket.

“I’m out ” she announced and before Kyle could utter a word, she was outta sight.

Kyle and Carly ate breakfast and after that, they both went to school cause Kyle new well that Carly wouldn’t want to stay home alone.

They arrived at school and he told Carly to wait outside the principal’s office.

He decided to enroll her here instead so she wouldn’t feel left out.

After he had done the registration, Carly was fit to come to school as from tomorrow as a student.

School closed that day and they all went home.

Kyle was in his room when a call came in and he picked it up.

It was the manager of their company.

He said their company in Las Vegas needs him.

He’s the only one handling the company cause his brother doesn’t seem interested though everything is in both their names.

He had to catch the first flight to Las Vegas tomorrow morning.

How’s he gonna leave Carly with Brett that doesn’t like girls.

This is like leaving fire and water together.

Nevertheless, his brother can’t kill so Carly would still be alive till he comes.

He’s just gonna spend a month there anyway.

He went downstairs and met his brother on the couch.

He sighted Carly descending the stairs too and he smiled at her.

Carly went to Kyle and stood beside him.

“so I have an announcement to make ” Kyle said but Brett’s eyes never left the TV.

“I’ll be leaving for Las Vegas tomorrow morning ” he announced and Brett’s head snapped up at him.

“I have a work there and it’ll be for a month so that leaves the both of you alone in the house ” he blurted out and Carly’s grip on his arm tightened.

“he’s not gonna kill you ” Kyle whispered to Carly.

“then I’ll go leave at our other house ” Brett blurted out.

“Brett, we already talked about this” Kyle said in an harsh tone and Brett rolled his eyes.

“fine! I’m not gonna leave the house ” he said.

“I’ll be gone tomorrow so you guys have the house to yourselves ” Kyle said.

Carly’s eyes met with Brett’s cold ones and they both held the same thing.

How are they gonna leave alone in the same house?
