CHAPTER TWENTY- EIGHT: HER DISAPPEARANCE
Having no idea what was going through Muchen’s head, I sit awake till morning, confused, I thought I already had him, I thought he was finally going to be mine, he kissed me, called me pretty, and even look at me with interest in his eyes.
What could have gone wrong, how did I ruin things? I was pretty sure, I did everything right, I know didn’t push him away, and I know for a fact that I didn’t say worst to anger him
” Milady?” Fang knocks on the door ” something tragic has happened”
” Come in”
She rushes in and I turn in her direction, the veil preventing her from seeing my face and me from seeing hers, getting rid of it, I watch the horrid expression on her face “What happened”
” The physician was found dead ” she look confused ” I know I cut off his tongue from preventing him to talk but I didn’t do anything else ” she mumble “Please believe me, I didn’t kill him ”
” Fang ”
” His inside was eaten out, I know that’s a work of a ghoul, and the last person that you saw there was me, but believe me ” tears drop from her eyes ” am not a ghoul, am human and I didn’t kill him, I promise”
” Fang ” moving closer to her, I hold her hand “You have to calm down, I never doubted you, and trust me, I know you are not one of those creatures ” mumbling I look at her, then smile ” is just that I had a dream, where I saw the physician dead, I had no idea it will come to life ”
” Milady?”
” It was a really strange dream ” Sitting on my bed, I remain quiet, not so sure it’s a dream anymore, touching my neck I gasp slightly at the pain, Muchen did drink my blood from the dream but he is right if am to suspect he is a vampire.
Vampire can’t walk under the sun, and Muchen can’t be a vampire, he did tell me something horrible about his childhood life too, does it have anything related to drinking blood?
” Milady, are you okay?” Looking at her, I exhale and then nod “The king has left the palace for hunting ”
” Hunting?”
” Yes milady ” she nods” and he has decided to stay up to a week “A week away from me? What’s up with his hasty decision, is he trying to give me space after what happened yesterday, he did look like he lost interest in my body and run away.
” The queen dowager is here!!!!” Listening to that, fang stands to her feet and moves to my right, head bow while I reply
” Let her in!” The doors to my chamber open, revealing a very angry woman ” your highness, your visit is rather very early ”
” Indeed ” She sits on the mat and I look at her “Have you heard of the news?”
” News?”
” Of your dead physician ” she look at me, suspicion in her eyes ” he had the same death as Queen Xiang, and it’s very fishy ”
” I find that absurd too my Highness” replying her, I smile ” Whoever this might be, really is ready for death wish ” I look at Fang “Bring some hot tea for her Highness” Fang bows her head before leaving
” Do not play the innocent woman here Jing ” She look at me “Both you and I know fully well that this was your doing and you’re pretending is not you, that won’t help you”
” Your Highness, you coming here to tell me all this without evidence is not helping ” I fake a sad look ” I have tried my best for you to like me but you keep trying to find me responsible for everything happening”
” Queen Jing !”
” Have you ever thought that all these are happening because of your wicked heart?” I stand to my feet ” This could be why the king hates you ” I watch her, stand to her feet, she lifts her hand to slap me but I caught it immediately” You do not have the right to hit me!”
” You do not talk to me without respect ”
” You certainly should not come to my quarters and accuse me of murder, I was in my chambers all through the night with lord Muchen ”
” I will find your hole ” she smiles “Nothing can remain a secret forever ”
” I hope you find what you have been looking for “Watching her leave, I run my hands through my hair, and Fang stepped in with the tray of tea ” am getting tired of that woman, she should know I can get her kill if I want to ”
” My queen” Fang mumbled,” your schedule for today is empty, do you wish to go to the library?”
” Yes, time alone will help me right now ” replying, I exhale “Set my bath while I pick a simple dress”
” As you wish milady” She drop the tray on the table, leave and then I pick up a glass of tea, drinking it gently, I think Muchen lied about me dreaming, it could be real, Muchen must have been lying, he must have drink from me, that’s why I look so pale and down.
What is he? What is he hiding and why did he lie?
” Your bath is ready milady ”
Finishing my tea, I step into the bathroom and do all the things that are needed, change into a simple gown, get into my carriage, and to the library.
Sitting down in my favorite chair, tea on the table and book in hand, I smile in delight at the peaceful sound, no noise, nothing, just me and my book, no worries in life….. Reading, I just couldn’t help but admire the girl, she is so loved, the guy is obsessed with her, he treats her like a queen while she is just a maid.
” You need to stay with me, I can’t leave without you,” someone said exact words, that the protagonist mutter in the early chapter, lifting my head, I stare at Ju-li “My Queen”
” Why are you here?”
” I decided to read from the royal library”
” Oh ”
” You thought I came for you, didn’t you?”
” I didn’t” my gaze move back to my book ” I knew you had other things to do than to search for me ”
” After the incident of our affair, I notice you have been avoiding me”
” Have I?”
” Indeed, ” I notice he step forward, his feet close to mine ” Are you upset with me ”
Flipping the next page, I mumble ” I see no reason to be ”
” Hmm” he bend down and I look around, glad the library is closed “You do know that am the best person for you “Dropping the novel, I look at him ” am sorry, I couldn’t get to you first but you have to trust me, you belong to me”
” Are you okay?” I frown “You are speaking like we had something going on, I told you to speak to me with respect” I stand to my feet ” I am your queen ”
” I Know ” He stands to his feet and moves closer ” Sometimes I think it will be better if you’re far away from here ”
” Pardon?”
” I will take care of everything ” he steps closer ” Just relax ” Before I could react, I felt something hard at the back of my head, I turn around, and a man standing in black, his face covered, touching the back of my neck, I stare at the blood
” Why is she still awake?”ju-li growled, ” I told you to use enough force ”
” If I had, she would be dead” the voice sound feminine, a woman?
I could barely hear their voice, my eyes remain fixed on the blood on my arm, blinking I stare at Ju-li who is looking at me worried, I tried shouting but just couldn’t find the voice” Why” was all I could mutter, my head is pounding but I can’t seem to lose consciousness.
” Forgive me” he lifted me in a bridal style before running into a secret door I had no idea of.
Muchen stands to his feet and stares at Li-mu ” Milord, you have to believe me, she was right here ”
“You told me you saw her here!!!” Growling, I stand to my feet ” You should know better than to have done something”
Li-mu bent down and bow his head “Forgive me, milord, I have no idea she will suddenly vanish, she must have no idea of you’re reincarnation”
” I didn’t tell her anything about that “Staring at the wooden house, I exhaled “My wife must have been tortured when I left, I have to find her, I have to do anything to find her” Clenching my hands, I exhaled…..
I promise her I would.
Taking another step, I felt my heart almost burst with fear, clenching my hands to my chest, I growl out in pain, what the hell is happening ” lord Muchen?” Li-mu rush to my side “You’re bleeding!”
Placing my hand on the back of my head, I stare at the blood stain on my hands “How?…… Jing?” A few seconds and the blood vanishes from both my hands and my head, the pain gone too.

CHAPTER TWENTY- NINE: HER DISAPPEARANCE 2 ( BITTER TRUTH )
” why hasn’t she woken up?” I listen to two different voices while my eyes are still closed shut
” Give her time, trust me when I said she isn’t dead ” the elderly one voice grumble ” am a physician for God’s sake”
” You said that to me three hours back “Ju-li growled and then it hit me that I have been unconscious for three hours. Where am I? Why did he even kidnap me, people should be looking for me by now.
Footsteps fade away and so did the door close shut, I hear a few clicks before opening my eyes to an empty room, painted pure white, just the bed placed in the middle.
Why am I here? What do I have to do here?
That doesn’t matter, I should hurry up and get out of here, find a way to escape, sitting up, I try standing up but discover how heavy my legs feel what’s going on, using the edge of the bed to support my movement, I quickly move closer to the wall then place my hands on it before support before moving towards the window.
Slowly opening them, I look down and gasp at the height of it, that’s far, I might break some legs if I try jumping, my gaze moves to the surrounding, everywhere filled with trees, don’t tell me we are in the forest.
” I know you would do that ” I didn’t bother to avert my gaze from the window at Ju-li’s voice “Why don’t you relax, you should know I would never hurt you ”
” Why should I trust you?”
” Because before Muchen started showing interest in you, we were friends ”
This time my gaze moves to meet his “So why are you ruining it? Why won’t you just remain my friend?”
” I fear I can’t do that, seeing you cry over that good-for-nothing king has always angered my heart, I had always wished I could dethrone Muchen, and become the king ”
” By the law, I would be your slave” I frown, looking at him “What will you achieve from that?”
” You will be mine” his expression is full of seriousness” I would be able to marry you, just me and you, no wives, concubines…..you would be my first and only ”
” And you thought I will be happy?” Furrowing my brows at him, I shake my head ” You should know how strongly I feel for my husband, his death won’t have stopped that ”
” Killing him will be difficult”
” so why are we here?” Looking at him, he steps closer, smiling “Ju-li?”
” We are far away from the palace, nobody will know you’re the queen here, we could get married, and live happily”
” Ju-li!!!!” I growl, getting sick of this silly game ” am a married woman, you can’t do this to me! Am also your queen, why don’t you ever understand that!!!”
” I love you ” I stare at the sincerity in his eyes and become speechless, this is what I wish to see in Muchen’s eyes, no one else but him, since I can’t have that, Should I just give up, give up Muchen?” You have to restart your life with me”
” I don’t have to do anything” I frown at him ” am getting out of here ”
” You can’t do that ”
“why not?”
” It will soon be evening and it’s dangerous in the woods ”
” So why did you bring me here ”
” You would be safe in the house ” he suddenly smile “Sit on the bed while I bring your dinner ” Before I could respond, he dashed out and I exhale, look down the window one last time, and then finally set my plans.
Moving to the bed, I pick up the bedspread and tie it together with the duvet, it should be long enough to get me out of there, but first, I need to shift the bed to the window, this will be done only at night.
I don’t believe that this place will be that dangerous, I have to get out sooner or later “My queen ” he steps in with a tray of food, places it on the bed, and looks at me “Please enjoy it ”
” Am not hungry ”
” Jing”
” It’s a queen to you ” I frown “You are never allowed to call me by my name ”
” We are getting married tomorrow”
” You’re joking”
” People do have more than one husband right ”
” Not me!”
” I don’t care what you think, we are getting married and that’s final”
” You do not have the right to yell at me ” he got frustrated and stormed out of the room, locking the door behind him, opening the tray of food, I stare at the chicken and soup, quite a huge food for dinner, is he trying to get me fat?
Getting up, I move the bed slowly and with all my strength to the window, move towards the door, tried locking it but realized that it’s already locked from the outside, I can’t lock it in anymore, which only means I have to hurry.
Tiring the bedspread to the bed, I throw it down the window and nod my head, happy it will get me close to the ground before I will jump, moving my hands to the chicken, I cut the lap and bite slowly, it’s soft and juicy, I must be hungry.
Taking six more bites, I begin to climb down from the window, slowly at first, hoping to get down with his involvement but that didn’t go as planned when his head pooped out of the window ” What do you think you’re doing?” The moment he finish talking, I increase my space in going down but he started lifting the bedspread which gave me no other option than to let go.

Hitting the ground hard, I gasp out pain, my gaze move to stare at an angry ju-li, I didn’t wait for him to say anything before running into the woods, I know he will come after me but the pain in my leg is making things difficult for me right now
” Jing!!!!!!” Listening to his voice, I turn left, trying my best to get rid of him, I don’t even know where am headed, I have no idea where am going, all I need to do right now is to go to the palace, I just need to escape ju-li ” you have to stop right here, it’s not safe in this wood ”
” Let me be!!!!” After yelling, I quickly turn right, he must have heard my voice from the left, I have to get rid of him somehow, my gaze moved to the sky for a brief minute, the sun is going to rest and strange voices is starting to alert me
” Jing!!!”
His voice was fainter now, which gave me joy, I quickly hide behind a tree, till everywhere is completely dark, with no signs of ju-li anymore, I stand to my feet. Everything seems so weird right now.
I couldn’t hear Ju-li’s voice at the end of everything, the sun finally went to rest, and am staring at my mother “You’re still alive?” She look so angry at me ” I told you to die !”
” Mother?” Stepping back, she moves closer
” Do you have any idea what you have awoken, I knew it, I shouldn’t have left the key in you!!!!”
” Why do you hate me so much!!!” I know this isn’t real but it might be my time to vent out “What stupid key do you keep mentioning, what have I ever done to you!!!! Am your child ”
” Don’t be preposterous” she frown ” I would never have a child like you ” I wanted to ask her more but Ju-li pull me out of that environment, he didn’t stop running and I just couldn’t speak nor did I try to stop him.
What just happened wasn’t something I expected, what was that? How did she come back alive? ” I told you it’s dangerous at night, just close your eyes, till we are back to the building” This time I didn’t argue, I did as he asked, and even when I hear the door closed, I didn’t open my eyes, tears drop instead
” Jing?” He cups my face into his hands and I open my eyes ” Are you okay?” I shake my head and he cleans my tears ” I heard you call mother, was it your mother?” I nod and he smiles “Don’t worry, am here”
” She hates me, I just don’t understand what I ever did to her” More tears flow ” I only wanted to be an obedient child” and it looks like she isn’t my mother, with her last sentence, I could tell she doesn’t see me as a child.
Before I could say more ju-li kissed me, I frown and didn’t push him nor did I respond to him, but for once in my life I felt so needed, the kiss wasn’t rough or hard….more like reassurance that he is here for me.
He withdraws and cleans my tears and smiles brightly, has ju-li been this handsome? ” am here ” I had no idea when I hug him tight.
” Thank you” I smile, eyes closed “Thanks”
Muchen stared at his hand confused ” Milord, you look stressed, what happened” Li-mu asked but I decided not to say anything to him, my eyes move into the woods, it’s always dangerous to go in that at night, your past will come hunting you
Standing up, I nod my head ” I will be going into the forest for a while ” mumbling I look at Li-mu “Warm the fire awaiting my arrival ”
” Milord, it’s dangerous, those things eat at your memories ”
” Such a thing can’t kill me, I need to speak with Josephine” growling, clenching my hands ” I know it won’t be her but those insects know what we don’t know, they may be something useful to tell me ”
” Milord, I fear for your safety”
” Am not a child, I can handle myself “Grabbing my jacket, I step out, and walked for a while before entering the middle of the forest, I listen to different bird noises, the sounds of trees, insects noise, and the sounds of crying children.
That did bother me, I came for one reason alone.
I caught a glimpse of blond hair and step closer ” Josephine?”
” Josephine?” She turn around and I frown at the face “It’s Mona now “My eyes widen at that” you killed our child, you caused it”
” What do you mean?” I step back ” You reincarnation as Mona and lost your memory? I have been pushing you away? I cause our child’s death?”
