Eva’s POV
I was in Dianna’s room, Bella had suddenly started crying out of the blue and I had no idea on what to do
I picked her up and tried to talk her back to sleep, that’s if she was even understanding me though
“You should go back to bed Bella, I know you miss your Mom but she’s quite busy right now but I promise she’ll be back soon so just stop crying and go back to sleep please” I said as I paced around the room with her
I sensed some presence downstairs and I immediately knew they were back so I went downstairs to meet them with the the baby
“What happened to her?” Dianna asked as she immediately collected Bella from me
“I have no idea, she just suddenly woke up and began to cry” I said
Dianna placed Bella over her chest and walked upstairs to her room
“What’s going on? What happened out there?” I asked
“We met with Adrian Hunter, the spell is not with him” Eric said but I had a feeling that was not all that happened
I looked towards where the lighted candles representing all the demons in Arcane City were and I noticed one of the candles has recently gone off
“A candle went off, and it’s one of the candles that shone bright, did you guys encounter a potentes?” I asked
“We did but not to worry, the situation was already taken care off when we got there and no one got hurt” Eric said
“No one got hurt? So the witches took care of it all on their own?” I asked surprised
The demon was one of the potentes, a witch alone can rarely handle them, they are too powerful
“No, Ivan killed the potentes” Eric said
“What? Who kill the potentes?” I asked again assuming that I must have heard wrong
“You heard me right Eva, Ivan was here and yes, he killed the powerful demon singlehandedly and sustaining no injury” I said
“What?! But…. but for six months he was away, no one knew where he was and now he suddenly appears out of the blue?” I asked
“Yes he did Eva, and I think he has the immortal killing spell” Eric said
“And what makes you think so?”
“You two should go back home and get some rest, take care of that beating hearts on your chests, for it won’t be there much longer” Eric said and looked at me “Those were his exact words”
I sat on the couch and placed my head on my hands
What the hell is going on?
“You don’t need to stress yourself over this Eva, Ivan’s anger is towards Dianna and I, he has nothing against you” Eric said
“How sure are you about that? I was there when Sophie died and I did nothing too, hell I even helped you guys escaped when he was charging towards you two, Ivan is a beast with no control and now that his emotions are all over the place, I’m sure he’s worse, I’ve seen the ferociousness with which he defended and protected your family when he was with you guys and now that he’s against us, we are not safe Eric, none of us is” I said
“His anger towards Dianna and I is understandable but if he comes, when he comes, I won’t let him hurt you Eva” Eric said and I chuckled
“It’s nice to see you offering to protect me against your all powerful brother, but not to worry, I am the head of the witches, I will protect myself and I will protect everyone in this Mansion” I said as I stood up and Eric grabbed my hand
“You must be so exhausted” he said
“What?”
“Your position comes with a lot of responsibilities and you have to bear them alone, since we came into this city things have turned upside down making life difficult for you, you smooth face has began to wrinkle even before time, do not carry all the burdens alone Eva, even leaders needs rest sometimes too, even leaders asks for help sometimes too, just know I’m always here whenever you decide to share this heavy responsibility of yours with someone” Eric said
He mustered a smile and patted my hand
“Get some rest, we’ll all need it for what is to come” he said and walked off
Ivan’s POV
I went back to where the car was parked and sat on the back seat with Layla
“The hero of the City is back, thanks for destroying my car door Ivan” Gia said
“You are welcome” I said without looking at her and Layla chuckled
“There’s nothing funny here old woman!” Gia said angrily as she started the car and drove forward
“This should be interesting” Layla said obviously enjoying the moment
Gia drove down a dark alley and stopped in front of a house, well hidden within the alley
“This is where we stay, for now” Gia said as she came down from the car and Layla and I did too
We walked into the house and everywhere was dark
“The atmosphere seems eerie” Layla said
The room suddenly lighted up and Ethan was right in front of us
“Sorry for the dark atmosphere, I was just working and I enjoy working in darkness” Ethan said
“Oh my….. What have you done to this small boy Gia, he is filled with so much dark energy” Layla said
“I might be twelve but I am no small boy, I am the current Guardian of The Hell Gates and I’ll advise you to address me with respect if you want no repercussion” Ethan said and Layla scoffed
“Ethan” I called and he looked at me
“Are you finally done mourning my sister?” he asked
“I’m so sorry Ethan, I’m sorry for all that happened” I said as I crouched in front of him and placed my hand on his face
He slowly grabbed my hand and let it down
“There is no time to be sorry, only way you can make me feel better is presenting me with the heart of the one that condemned my sister to such a fate” Ethan said
“I promise you Ethan, Sophie’s death will not go unavenged” I said and he nodded
“That is what I wanted to hear” he said and walked over to the table and grabbed a parchment of paper
“This is the immortal killing spell we got from Eva’s Mansion, to conjure a weapon strong enough to kill an immortal, four things are needed, we have three outbof those four. We have the spell, we have a dagger made of pure gold, we have the ashes of the immortal’s enemy which is Aria’s ashes, I’m sure it will suffice for that, the last ingredient remaining is the bloody of a born immortal, which means….”
“We will have to get the blood of Dianna’s daughter” I completed…..

Ivan’s POV
“Dianna’s baby is at Eva’s Mansion and I can assure you the place is well protected but if we broke in unnoticed once, I’m sure we can break in again” Gia said
“Why are we already talking about breaking in when we just arrived today, don’t we at least get a day’s rest?” Layla asked
“If you are too tired you can take a rest, you are old after all but do not interrupt us if you have nothing meaningful to contribute please” Ethan said and Layla scoffed
“Has anyone told you how rude you are boy?” Layla said
“Not really, you are the first one, anyway” Ethan looked away from Layla “After the last break-in, Eva has reinforced the spells around the house and she increased the house protection, it will be much harder to get in now than it was before”
“It will be much harder? It’s was pretty hard before, if it is much harder to get in now then it is impossible” Gia said
“If we can’t go in to meet the child, then we might as well make them bring the child out to us” I said
“How do we do that? That Mansion is the only safe place for Dianna’s baby and she won’t bring her out for anything” Gia said
“She will if she thinks the Mansion is no longer safe for her child, paranoia runs the family you know” I said and then looked at Ethan
“Do we know anything about the new spells put up to protect the Mansion?” I asked
“No, we know nothing at all, I’ve been trying to find out with my spells but it isn’t working, Eva is blocking me out, she knows someone is casting a spell on her Mansion so she’s prepared” Ethan said
“Eva, she still remains smart but anyway if we can’t find anything with your spells then I guess we’ll have to find out in person” I said
“Okay I don’t understand, if the plan is to make Dianna bring the child out of the Mansion that means we would no longer need to break into the Mansion so why do we still need to figure out the spells protecting the house?” Gia asked
“Well we can’t put all our eggs in a basket right? We should have more than one plan to be guaranteed of success, just follow my lead Gia and prepare, we’ll be going towards their Mansion tomorrow” I said and then looked around the house
“Do I have a room?” I asked
“There” Ethan pointed at door behind the living room and I mustered up a smile
“Have a good night sleep” I said and walked to my new room
It’s a nice and arranged room, the light in the room wasn’t working and it only has a small window so it was pretty dark but I loved it, I am drawn to dark places after all
“Already asleep?” I heard Layla’s voice as she knocked on the door
“You can come in” I said and she opened the door and walked in
“Why the hell is this place so dark? I can barely see anything” Layla said as she walked towards me
“I guess I should be thankful that the room they gave me isn’t as dark as this one” she said
“What is it Layla?” I asked and she sat on the bed beside me
“Everyone has retired back to their room, but I just saw Gia sneak out of the house” she said
“And?”
“I still don’t fully trust her Ivan, though I could hear some of her thoughts but I can’t go indebt into her mind to see what is there, she’s somehow blocking me from reading her deep thoughts, I don’t know how she’s doing that and I most certainly do not trust her” Layla said
“She must have her reasons for blocking you out, not everyone likes their mind to be read” I said
“I knew you won’t take whatever I say seriously” she said
“You should go to bed Layla, it’s getting late”
“Fine, I guess I should” she said and stood up
“But before I go, are you really going to proceed with the plan? Make Dianna bring her child out of the Mansion and get her child’s blood?”
“Of course” I said
“And what if the baby gets hurt in the process?” she asked
“Then it is inevitable” I said and she was silent for a moment
“Wow, you really mean what you just said, I didn’t even feel a tad of uncertainty in you, it’s really surprising Ivan, you absolutely do not care if the baby gets hurt, the baby I remember you fighting so hard to protect and making sure she gets to this world safely” Layla said
“Yes and you know exactly what I got in return for giving such devotion to Dianna and her baby, you know what they paid me back with!!” I sighed
“Good night Layla, I do not want to talk about this no more” I said as I laid on the bed and I heard her walk out of the room
Dianna’s POV
Bella had refused to go back to sleep so I placed her in the midst of her toys and they were doing a very good job at distracting her and stopping her from crying
I stood by the window and stared at the view of the City
The usually busy Arcane street was empty, you could barely see anyone walking about, everyone is scared, everyone is hiding in their abode, no one wants to die at the hands of the demons
I turned back and looked at my baby girl who was busy with her toys
Is this the kind of world I’ll have to raise you in? This was not the plan, you were to be raised in a peaceful environment, receiving love from all of your uncles and aunt but life doesn’t usually go the way we plan does it?
We had promised to stick together and make the world a better place for my baby girl to live in but here we are now, at a crossroad, divided and against each other
I went to sit with my baby girl on the floor she made some excited noise on seeing me and I smiled, I still remember your father’s last words very vividly
……”Our baby girl…… she is….. she’s the only one……she can save….save you all”……
“Just like Owen said, I hope you’ll really grow up to be a powerful lady, powerful enough of saving your family and bringing us back together but until then, it is my responsibility that you remain safe and that you do not get hurt so I will protect you no matter what Bellatrix Hammington, I promise”……
