CHAPTER SIXTY EIGHT & NINE: BROTHER-HOOD 1

I sat alone in my chamber, my gaze fixed on the gleaming window then back to Diamond. Doubts swirled in my mind about her earlier words. Hua was undoubtedly a witch, but could Diamond really brainwash her? Would that make my mission easier, or would it lead to unforeseen consequences?

“I still find that quite difficult,” I confessed, my voice filled with uncertainty.

Diamond, her ethereal form shimmering before me, asked, “What part?”

“You brainwashing Hua. I mean, she’s a witch,” I replied, voicing the concern that nagged at me.

“And I am Zeus’s daughter,” Diamond retorted with a hint of pride in her powerful abilities. Her eyes glittered with confidence.

“But you once said I’m the only person who can see you… How do you expect me to make her see you?” I questioned, puzzled by the seeming contradiction.

“Listen, Jing,” Diamond said, moving closer to me. “I allow people to see me. I’m not a ghost. All I need you to do is get into Queen Hua’s chambers, and I will appear in front of her.”

“That easily?” I asked, my skepticism still lingering.

“Yes, that way you can leave this earth and come home,” Diamond assured me.

I hesitated, my gaze drifting elsewhere. The thought of leaving Muchen wasn’t something I took lightly. However, I realized that the promise of a way back home was a tempting prospect. “Hmmm. Alright, I will go over to her chambers. If this is the easy way out, I want it done as soon as possible.”

Diamond’s tone shifted as she inquired, “Aren’t you interested in knowing Fang’s location?”

“Fang?” I looked at Diamond, puzzled. “Muchen told me of her betrayal.”

“I see nothing wrong in what she did,” Diamond commented, her voice taking on a more sinister tone. “She loves her fiancé and decided to help him.”

I nodded, agreeing with her assessment. However, her expression suddenly darkened. “That’s why bad things keep happening to you. Fang deserves nothing but death; her past means nothing. She betrayed you, and that’s it.”

My eyes narrowed, and I defended Fang, saying, “You shouldn’t say anything about Fang. You don’t know her.”

Diamond countered, “I have been watching over you, so yes, I do know her.” With that, she vanished from my view, leaving me alone in my chamber with a whirlwind of thoughts.

It was clear that Fang had betrayed me, but she had also helped me in many ways. I believed that everyone deserved a second chance, and I had no intention of seeking her death. For now, my focus had to be on handling Queen Hua.

“Prepare my bath,” I mumbled to the maid I had summoned after ringing the bell. It took the maid about ten minutes to return and inform me that my bath was ready.

I took my time in the bath, my thoughts constantly drifting to Muchen. The idea that he might be in danger, and the possibility of Alexander betraying him weighed heavily on my mind. I needed to resolve matters with Queen Hua and then secretly accompany Muchen without his knowledge.

After my bath, I dressed in a green Chinese dress embroidered with delicate flowers and had a hairpin placed in my hair. The maid added slight touches of makeup to my face. I was ready for what lay ahead.

Leaving my chamber, my maids followed me as we made our way to Queen Hua’s quarters. I didn’t stop until I reached her chamber, and the guards outside announced my name. After a few moments, I stepped inside, finding Queen Hua seated on her bed, her eyes filled with excitement.

“Isn’t this the first time Her Royal Highness decided to visit me?” she remarked with a sly smile.

I nodded, playing along. “You should indeed be pleased.”

Hua didn’t waste time and asked, “Don’t beat around the bush, Queen Jing. Are you here to beg for forgiveness? Ask me to take back my words?”

I smiled confidently, replying, “Why would I do anything like that? I knew you have no evidence.”

Hua chuckled and revealed her supposed evidence, including Edward’s confession right before Muchen killed him, all in a crystal ball. I frowned at her revelation.

“How did you get that?” I inquired, feigning curiosity.

Hua grinned and replied, “A little digging.”

Playing along, I asked, “Why are you doing this?”

Hua chuckled and confessed, “Queen Xiang was my closest friend, and Lord Muchen said if I find proof, I will get a divorce.”

Surprised, I inquired, “You want a divorce?”

Hua nodded. “Indeed, there are more things I wish to explore. Being a queen was just a slight adventure. And to top it off,” she frowned, “I hate you. I do want you dead.”

I cautioned her, saying, “That would be a very bad decision, and it won’t happen.”

Hua questioned my certainty, to which I replied, “Because of my friend, Diamond.”

She seemed unimpressed, calling Diamond a new ghoul. But when Diamond appeared before her eyes, their gazes locked, and Queen Hua froze in place. Her realization hit her, and she muttered, “Oh my goodness,” just before both of their eyes turned black. I watched in shock as Queen Hua suddenly collapsed, and the crystal ball she held shattered upon hitting the ground. Diamond then turned her gaze towards me.

“She is yours,” Diamond said before vanishing. She appeared drained, and I couldn’t help but wonder what she had told Queen Hua and how the queen would react from this point on.

“Help!!!” I yelled, “Call a physician!!!” The situation had taken an unexpected turn, and I needed to ensure that Queen Hua received the necessary care to bring her back to life….or else the council will say I killed her.

Muchen and Alexander stood in Muchen’s favorite garden, a place of serene beauty. The garden was a symphony of colors and fragrances, with meticulously maintained flower beds and lush greenery. There was a stone pathway that meandered through the garden, and a small ornate gazebo in the center, covered in blooming vines. The garden was adorned with a variety of flowers, from vibrant roses to delicate orchids, creating a picturesque backdrop for their conversation.

“Have you done as I asked?” I inquired, my gaze never leaving the flowers that surrounded us.

Alexander hesitated before responding, “Lady Margaret kept asking me why we should meet in the forest of memories.”

I raised an eyebrow, intrigued. “What was your answer?”

“I told her it’s the best place where you wouldn’t dare to step in, and I’m sure she knows that too,” Alexander replied.

turning around to face him, he spoke with a deadly seriousness, “After all this, I will definitely kill you with my own hands.”

I questioned, “I do not see a reason why you hate me.”

The anger in Alexander voice was palpable as he retorted, “You slept with my mother and then killed Edward after disposing of his first wife. You destroyed my family.”

I definitely made a macabre joke, saying, “And now I’m trying to kill your fiancée. I’m truly a horrible person, aren’t I?”

“Indeed, this life must be tiring for you,” he remarked with a chilling promise. “I promise to end it for you.”

“Don’t be stupid,” i scoffed. “I can kill you whenever I want. If not for the fact that I need you, I would have disposed of you long ago. And you know why? You are weak, just like before… You can’t protect anything.”

Alexander couldn’t contain his anger, and he growled in frustration.

Suddenly, Li-mu rushed in, looking visibly bothered. “Milord!” he exclaimed, bowing his head. “Reon is here with fifty men.”

“In the palace?”surprise could be noticed from my voice, my interest piqued. “He isn’t interested in killing anyone else but you. He’s asked for your audience.”

My face broke into a smile, and he inquired, “Where is Queen Jing?”

“In Queen Hua’s quarters, in the physician’s room,” Li-mu replied.

Without wasting a moment, i sprinted off at full speed. I can not remember the last time, I use my full strength in running, centuries perhaps.

In the blink of an eye, I was in Queen Hua’s quarters and, from there, into the physician’s room. Jing stood next to a sleeping Queen Hua.

She turned around, shocked at my presence. “Milord, why are you—”

“No time,” i interrupted, grabbing her hand. I looked at her with a sense of urgency. “I am in need of blood.” And then i added in a hushed tone, “And sex. This won’t be sweet or romantic, but I will make you feel better later.” She flushed at the mention of that, those cheeks turning red.

Turning her around, I placed her hands on the wall, lifted her dress, dragged down her underwear, and thrust into her.

With just one thrust, I felt a surge of empowerment and pleasure. My mind was consumed by the sensations, and the impending encounter with Reon was momentarily forgotten. The intensity of being buried in Jing and hearing her moans overwhelmed me.

The thought of Queen Hua waking up to find us in this intimate position excited me even more.

Leaning closer, i sank his teeth into Jing’s neck. She gasped, and then a moan escape my lips in pleasure. We reached our climax simultaneously while i drank from her, feeling my powers returning to me. I just couldn’t stop drinking, but the thought of it risking Jing’s life, is not something I want.

Quickly, i withdrew, picked Jing up in my arms, moved closer to the bed, and used my leg to push Hua from it. She fell to the floor, still unconscious, while i gently laid Jing on the bed.

“Are you okay?” I asked, concern in my eyes.

Jing smiled, looking relaxed and calm, before I say my next words “I will be back. I need to finish something.”

I kissed her forehead and then her lips before leaving. The need for intimacy before a battle was unusual, but i couldn’t deny the exhilaration it brought.

As I moved toward the palace entrance, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of foreboding. Reon stood there with a smile on his face, his eyes filled with a mix of amusement and anticipation. He greeted me with a taunt.

“I can see that this is Lady Margaret’s doing,” i said, a smirk appear on Reon lips.

“You mean bringing me back to life?” He retorted, a mocking glint in his eyes.”Of course, it’s her doing. We are siblings, after all,” he replied casually.

“Blood doesn’t lie,” I said, frowning and stopping just ten inches from him. “Do you really want us to go down this path again?”

“You mean after last time?” Reon inquired.

“Yes, after your betrayal,” I said, my voice tinged with bitterness.

Reon chuckled, seemingly unfazed. “Betrayal? I only helped my sister.”

“By telling her about the crystal?” I nodded. “Talking with you is not needed. You just need to be in that grave again.”

Reon stepped closer, a wry smile on his face. “The fact that you think you can kill me so easily is really shocking. You should deal with these fifty men first.”

“Already done that,” I replied, and he seemed taken aback.

“Surprised? For your information, I didn’t go to the gods’ land just for sex,” I added.

“Power?” Reon frowned. “How power-sick are you?”

I stepped even closer, our faces mere inches apart. “I simply put these fifty men to sleep. Nothing special, just an extra speed. And now, it all depends on me finishing you off back to sleep, eternal sleep.”

We locked eyes, a deep-seated hatred simmering beneath the surface. The wounds ran deep, from his past death on his birthday to the fact that his sister chose me over him, and the subsequent revelation of my secrets to Lady Margaret that led to my centuries-long slumber on my own part, deceiving crystal to hate me and making her kill me in the process.

To others, it might seem trivial, but the pain ran deep, and forgiveness wasn’t in our vocabulary. After all, we had once considered each other as brothers.

The confrontation escalated as we engaged in a fierce physical battle, neither of us using all of our power, both reluctant to deliver the final blow. We exchanged punches, grappling with each other, our movements a dance of fury and pent-up anger.

Finally, we both fell to the ground, wounded and exhausted, struggling to catch our breath. Reon couldn’t help but say, “You bastard, I’m sure you would have killed me easily.”

I wheezed, trying to catch his breath. “You dying easily… won’t be fun.”

“Everyone is watching their king being childish,” he mused.

“I’m sure I will be in the newspaper tomorrow morning, fighting like a chicken,” I mumble, a hint of amusement in his voice.

Minutes passed, and then, we both burst into laughter. It was a laughter tinged with pain and a shared history.

“You really know how to throw a punch,” Reon chuckled.

I nodded, a smirk forming. “Can’t say the same about you.” We both shared another round of laughter.

In the end, despite our differences and the battles that defined us, there was a strange bond between us as brothers, or fake brothers one could call us.but I definitely like to see Reon live his life again, in a good way

” Thank you ” Reon sit up then clear his throat ” I needed this beating, it did clear my head ”

” Anytime Reon, anytime”
