✨ Chapter 9✨
Nancy was finally alright and the yellow stone was returned to Dorothy. Things were falling into place and Xavier was also preparing for his grand wedding with Dorothy.
A date was chosen and the wedding has been the talk of the town. The richest guy and lady in the city were getting married and even though people were happy, some were a bit worried.
Comments like “how can the two richest people even think of getting married?”, “If they get married, it means the whole money in this country will be controlled by one family”, “What is going to become of us then? There won’t be a penny left for us” were heard on a daily basis.
Never did the people imagine that Dorothy Alan would ever get married to Xavier Wayne. Everyone knew they weren’t on good terms so it was quite shocking that they were getting married.
“We should make the people feel rest assured that we are not here to take away all their money right? We should also let them know that our marriage is not based on a contract like they think. What do you say to that?” Dorothy asked Xavier
Both of them were currently in Dorothy’s mansion because she asked for it. They were making plans for their wedding and they’ve chosen a date that they will get the wedding dress and tuxedo. Dorothy suggested they do it together on the same day so people will believe they are a loving couple.
“So what? Are you suggesting we address the public together?” Xavier scoffed
“Yes! If we don’t do that, the public won’t stop and I hate gossips that involve me. I will send you the possible questions and answers so make sure to go through it because I’m going to be picking a date soon. Our wedding is just around the corner so we have to do it before then” Dorothy explained

“This doesn’t even seem like a real marriage to me so don’t you think you’re going a bit overboard?” Xavier asked
“Whether I’m going overboard or not, all you have to do is comply” Dorothy stated
Jack just stared at them, not knowing what to do. To him, Dorothy was an angel and very pretty lady. He fell for her at first sight but he believes there’s no chance for them, considering the fact that Xavier was Dorothy’s mate.
He felt that there’s a gentle personality behind the mask Dorothy wears but there’s no chance to prove it when he can’t even be too close to her. After they were done with the whole talks and plans for the wedding, they stood up to leave.
“Beta jack, please wait behind for a while. The rest can leave” Dorothy said
“What is the meaning of this? I won’t be moving an inch from here unless Jack comes with me” Xavier said and stopped walking
“Really? I’m politely asking you to leave but you don’t want to? This isn’t your pack so you should know I have the upper hand here. Just leave quietly while I’m asking nicely” Dorothy said
“I will be fine Xavier, you can wait for me in the car. If I’m not out in thirty minutes, then you can come for me. Please” Jack whispered to Xavier
After staring at Dorothy for a while, he finally walked out of the mansion and went to wait in his car.
“Why did you ask me to stay back?” Jack asked when Dorothy refused to say a word
“You seemed to have a lot to say so I’m giving you an opportunity” Dorothy said without looking up from the books she was going through
“You are mistaken, I don’t have anything to say to you” Jack said and turned to leave
“If you just leave like that without saying anything, you’re going to regret it forever” Dorothy said and he immediately halted in his tracks
“Do you know what I want to say” Jack asked with a sigh
“I have a hunch but I’m not so sure so I want to hear it directly from you” she shrugged
“Fine, I like you. Are you satisfied now?” Jack asked angrily
“Chill okay? You don’t need to scream unless you want Xavier to hear you. Actually, I also liked you from the first time I saw you but I don’t know why this had to happen. If you had confessed your feelings earlier, I probably wouldn’t have chosen Xavier. I felt it was one sided so I didn’t do anything about it” Dorothy said and finally raised her head to stare directly at his eyeball
“What is this feeling? I’ve been feeling it since I had my head bowed but the moment I looked into his eyes, it became stronger. What is this bond that is as strong as this when we’ve not even met privately before?” Dorothy asked herself as she stared at him
“So you’re saying you also liked me?” Jack stuttered
“Yes but it’s too late now. We will talk some other time since thirty minutes is almost up, I don’t want to see Xavier barge in here” Dorothy concluded
Jack slowly walked out of the room and headed to the parking lot where Xavier was waiting for him. He looked gloomy and anyone would be able to tell that something was bothering him.
“Jack, what happened to you? Why are you looking like a lost puppy? Did she say something to you? I should teach her a lesson so she will know my best friend isn’t to be messed with” Xavier said and tried leaving the car
“She didn’t say or do anything to me, I only remembered something. I want to be alone right now, you can do that much for me right?” Jack asked gently
“S..sure!” Xavier stuttered
He has always known Jack to be lively and seeing him like that made him utterly confused. Jack has always been there for him but now that Jack needs him the most, he doesn’t even know what to do.
“I’m the worst friend in the universe” he thought to himself as the car drove away
Dorothy went into deep thoughts after Jack left. Never in her life has she felt a strong bond and connection like that. It felt like one of her family members was with her but she knew her mom only gave birth to one child.
“Could it be that we are meant to be? If not, there’s no other explanation for what I felt around him” she thought to herself and paced restlessly
“Why are you pacing with a worried look?” Amanda asked, walking in
She was also part of the discussion for Dorothy’s wedding plans but she stepped outside when Dorothy asked only Jack to remain in the room.
“I don’t understand what’s going on right now but it’s definitely not something good” Dorothy said
“What did you discuss with Jack?” Amanda asked, ignoring Dorothy’s words
“It’s personal, I can’t tell anyone” Dorothy said
“Not even your best friend?” Amanda scoffed
“I’ve been watching you for the past few days and I’ve noticed some changes in you. I don’t know what happened or how it happened but I seem to be loosing my best friend with each passing day” Dorothy said
“W..what are you talking about?” Amanda stuttered
“You know exactly what I’m talking about. Anyway, I have something important to take care of” Dorothy said and left after picking her car keys, leaving Amanda to dwell on her thoughts
