Chapter 11&12

Arya woke up that night. She stared around, Lily wasn’t on her bed.

And she could hear the sound of video game playing from the sitting room.

* How long have I been asleep?* She thought to herself.

She held the door knob, and there was a pause like she remembered something.

The window which face to her door opened with a crecking sound like someone was about to sneak in.

She turned to look at it, it was closed. No, her mind isn’t playing some games with her, is it?

She went ahead pulling the door knob, exiting the room to the dinning. She looked at Lily who got lost in the game.

She went to the kitchen, checking the pots for something to eat.

” Lily?” She called, ” Is there any left over food? I’m starving.”

But what makes her think Lily would hear that with such loud volume of game she was playing.

She walked out of the kitchen, walking to the television. She shut it down.

” What the fu*k was that for!” Lily yelled, dropping the game pad on the small table.

” I’m starving.” Arya yelled back, folding her arms around her chest. ” And you just woke me up with this.” Pointing at the television.

” Sorry. And talking about your food, it’s in the kitchen. ”

” I just went there few minutes ago and there is nothing like food in there. Did you eat my own share of food? ” She queried.

Lily stood up from the ground, not saying a word to her, she went into the kitchen, coming out with a covered plate.

” Since when did you grow blind to see things right before your eyes. Here, ” she handed the food to her.

” Don’t blame me, still feeling sleepy.” She sat on the single sofa, grinding on her porridge.

” So, any news or gist for me? ” She asked.

Lily who has been staring at her shook her head. ” This is the second time your handsome boss is driving you home asleep in his arms. ”

Arya paused for a while. Then she laughed. ” You’re kidding, are you?”

” I’m fu*king serious. You dozed of and when I try asking, he would say you aren’t feeling too well. Tell me, Arya, what’s going on with your life? ”

Arya continued eating, giving her a shrug. ” In as much as you wanna know, I too do. Do you think I love what I’m hearing, things I keep imagining at the end of the day, I don’t even know if they are real. ”

” Despite that, something must have triggered all this. Poor thing you can’t remember any of that. ” She said pitifully.

” I just wish I can wake up and all this would end up being a dream. I’m sick and tired of all this things happening to me. ” She remembered the scar on her wrist, but to her greatest surprise, it was gone.

Arya’s eyes w¡dened in surprise as she saw it, and Lily was shot of words. ” It’s gone.” She said to her amazement.

” How the heck did that happen?” Lily questioned, not letting her eyes off Arya’s wrist. ” How is that possible? Are you some kind of supernatural creature?”

” What the heck are you talking about? How on earth will I be a human and supernatural at the same fu*king time?! ”

” How am I supposed to know? You just healed, it’s obviously clear only supernatural creatures does that. And you just healed. ”

Arya scoffed. ” This is crazy. ” She over looked the scar, returning back to her food. ” I think it’s time I have to care less about all this happening to me and pretend like nothing is actually happening. ” She said sarcastically.

” Tell me you are not serious. How can you care less about this when it’s just starting. It’s just two weeks at the Raines Corp and weird things are already happening to you?

Geez, I think that company is cursed or something. Or maybe, a devilish instrument has been planted in it’s foundation. ”

” Lily… ”

” What?! I’m certain and definitely right about this. Just two weeks and you’re losing your mind. Two weeks and you are seeing things you shouldn’t see. Two weeks and you’ve been brought back home by your boss asleep in his arms. ”

” Two weeks and we shouldn’t conclude yet if there’s any devilish instrument in its foundation. ”

” That still doesn’t change the fact that bad things are really happening… to you. ” She said, sounding concerned.

Arya sighed. ” I understand, and I feel the same way for myself. If only I can remember it all, I’m pretty sure none of this would have been happening to me. ”

The elevator door opened, Arya walked in sluggishly. Her discussion with Lily the previous night flashed through her memory.

Somehow, Lily was right. But how possible is it for Mr Adrian to plant a foreign body under the building for what exactly?

And on the contrary, no soul has been recorded missing or dead since the existence of the company.

So on the other hand, Lily is wrong. Mr Adrian is a good man and wouldn’t do any thing that will bring a negative effect on his workers.

She was still contemplating on whether or not she is to believe Lily that she didn’t notice Adrian leave his office.

” Miss Stark?” He called.

She rose her head at his direction. ” Yes, sir?” She answered.

” Can I have a moment with you… in my office?” He requested.

” Sure. ” She said, trailing after him.

She shut the door after her, and he ushered her to sit on the guest chair. ” Is there a problem?” She asked.

” No, not at all.” He said. But the expression on his face told her how much things were really not okay.

” Adrian, there’s something wrong isn’t it?” She asked again, not convinced of his first reply.

He gave a slight nod. ” There’s some one after you,”

” I know.” She said.

” It’s affecting you, physically, mentally and emotionally. And whatever they are up to, I don’t think you’re safe. ” He said.

Arya nodded. None of it was new to her. She’s been feeling strange for these past weeks now and worst still, forgetting them all.

” You don’t have to say it twice, I’ve been experiencing strange things in my life lately. Even my room mate thinks I’m going insane.

But she understands me now, it’s weird, isn’t it. Having so many experiences but can’t remember any of them. I know I’m losing my mind…

But right now, all I can remember is things that happens in here and at my apartment. I don’t even remember you taking me home last night.

If you don’t mind me asking, what happened to me? ”

” You… you passed out at the conference room while I was having meeting with Kamilah. I think it has to do with the bite mark on your hand. ” He explained.

” What happened to the bite mark. How did it go? ” She asked inquisitively, hoping for an explainable reply.

” It healed while you were convulsing.” He lied, hiding the truth from her.

” How come I don’t remember any of these. ” She asked.

” I don’t know. ” He simply said.

” There’s got to be a way to end this, right?” She stared deep in his eyes, ” This isn’t over, is it? There’s a lot yet to come, many yet to happen. And this is only the beginning? ”

” Ms Stark… ”

She scoffed. ” I understand. You don’t have to say it. ”

” We’ll get to the bottom of this, I promise.”

But Arya shook her head. ” You can’t be there for me all the time. We only meet each other here in the company, a lot of things might happen and you won’t know.”

What makes her think he wouldn’t? Maybe that’s because she doesn’t know what kind of creature he is.

He is able to hear what ever it is, no matter the distance between them.

He just have to protect her. He will do whatever it takes to avoid her from remembering what she had forgotten.

” Why are you helping me?” She asked, suspecting his sudden caring attitude.

” I don’t want the same incident that happened two years ago to take place again. I’ll do whatever it takes to protect my workers. ”

Arya felt a bit relieved at his words. At least, she has people in her life who are there for her. Lily, and her boss… Adrian.
