CADE POV

“Tell me, are you interested in knowing the secret I found out?”my mom asked her and she stared at me in surprise

I never thought that Emily will find out the truth this way, If possible I never want her to remember the past because it has never brought any thing but pain in all our lives, I have to stop my mom,I thought as I went towards them.

“Let’s leave Emily!”I said as I take her hand

“Why do you want to run away with her?”my mom asked making me more angry

“Just stop it mom! Don’t say it”I muttered that last part to her but she didn’t listen to me.

“Your husband doesn’t want me to tell you but I have to, it’s some thing that I want answers from”she said not listening to me.

“Mom I……”

“You two are not married right?”she asked and I stopped when I heard what she said

“What are you saying ma’am” Emily asked

“I thought you were more wiser than this”she replied giving the two of us a smile

“What are you trying to say mom?”

“Your father will have to forgive me, he said that I shouldn’t say a thing but I just can’t hold back, you two never got married, your marriage is fake,so are you two”she said

“Where did you hear it from?” I asked

“I knew some thing was odd about the two of you so I made sure I got the investigator to investigate and he brought back the news that you two are not married, that it was all a lie” she said.

“He is the one telling you the lie”I said quickly

“Do you think I don’t have prove, I do have prove, I can show it to you”she said

“Stop it mom!”I said as I stared at her

“So are you going to tell the truth now?”she asked

“We aren’t married, is that the truth you want to know?”I asked

“I knew it, I knew she was just one of your mistress, just so you wouldn’t marry Isabel, you brought In this thing”she yelled at Emily

I looked at Emily only to see her frightened,I took her hand and she stared at me

“Watch what you say! I might not be married to her but I do love her”I said

“Love! How do you expect me to believe that, she is just some gold digger who accepted your offer for money”she yelled at Emily

“Mom please leave Emily out of it?”I said

“I won’t, I hate her from the first day I set my eyes on her and now more than ever I hate her more”she said moving towards Emily but I pushed her back

“Stop it mom ,you are frightening her”I said

“I don’t care, i hate her, Its like am seeing that woman once again, it’s like I have to see that bch again and it drives me crazy”she yelled still starring at Emily

I knew that she wasn’t talking about the fake marriage, she was talking about Emily mother, Stacey.

” Let’s go to the study mom, Emily go to the room, I will find and meet you”I said and pulling my mom,I walked her to the study and closed the door

“What’s your problem mom?”I asked

“My problem is that bch! I don’t want her here, take her away Cade, get her off this island”she yelled at me

“I won’t mom?”I said

“What?”

“I love her, I love Emily,even though we started as a lie, I now love her “I said

“Have you gone mad ! She is the same girl you rappe years ago, do you think she will still stay with you if she knows that you were the one who rapped her?”she asked

“She won’t ever know that Mom, I won’t let her know it and neither will I let you tell her the truth”I said and she walked towards me pulling Me by my lapel

“Are you crazy! Don’t you know what we had to do just to keep every thing a secret and now that we know that she is alive, she has to be killed”she said

“I won’t let you touch her, she has gone through a lot mom, she wasn’t to be blamed for any thing but she had to be dragged into it, she has suffered enough, it’s time I make it up to her”I said and angrily she gave me a slap

“Do you know what I had to go through just so this girl can get out of my life, I have done a lot of things just to keep you safe and now you want to keep that girl safe?”she asked

“Yes I want to and stop saying you did it for me, you did it for your self ,you are nothing but a manipulator”I said

“Call me what ever you want but I know that i did it for you, I did it for you and I refuse that we keep that girl alive”she said

“Don’t touch her mom,I mean it, I will always protect her and I will make sure you don’t succeed In harming her again” I said and left the room feeling angry

I got to the room only to see Emily curled up on the bed

I went to the bed and sat on it, I could hear her crying and wanting to give her time to calm down, I stayed quiet but when she wouldn’t stop,I layed on the bed beside her and held her to me.

“Why does your mom hate me, have never done any thing to her”she said as she kept on crying

“She doesn’t hate you,she is just annoyed that I want you instead of Isabel”I said

“Don’t you regret choosing me, you should have chosen some one else”he said

“Why would I choose some one else, it’s you that I want and I wont ever regret my choice”I said as kssed her neck

“I don’t know what to think again Cade, I mean I never did any thing to deserve her to hate me like this, yes she might be angry about the marriage thing but that is all, she should only be angry about the marriage stuff and it’s not that much of big deal, we now love each other right, so then why does she still look at me with so much hatred” she said as she kept on crying hærd

I didn’t want her to keep on feeling this way, what can I do to make her forget the situation, just then a thought pop into my head.

“What do you think about the two of us getting Married for real this time”I said and that made her turn over.

She kept on starring at me as if she couldn’t believe that I just said to her

“Married?”

“I don’t want us to pretend any more, you love me and I love you, I think it’s time that we get married and become man and wife for real, with out the deal or any thing hanging over our head,what do you say ?”I asked and she sat up to stare down at me

“Don’t you want to?”I asked and slowly she gave me a smile

“Why wouldn’t I want to,I love you Cade and I want to be your wife for the rest of my life”she said as she wiped off the tears and hugged me tightly.

“Why don’t we go back to city and get married there”I offered

“But what about your family?”She asked

“They wouldnt come, you saw the way they are all acting now, if they should see how you behave, they will get really mad and say worse things about us,I don’t want our wedding to be ruined by them and so I would have it in the city with your parents as our witness, what do you say?”I asked again and she nodded gently.

“I wouldn’t be more happy and to know that I am going to be married to you for real gives me so much joy, I love you Cade”She muttered softly

“And I love you too, future Mrs Callaghan”I said and she laugh out

“It feels nice, I like the way it sound” she said as she hugged me tight again.

Some how I felt bad than ever, she wouldn’t like to know to that I had married her knowing that I am the one who ruin her life too.

Life is just so unfair, I thought as I held her tightly in my arms.

EMILY POV

I sat on the bed, trying to get in touch with my parents for the last time.

They have been on holiday and it should certainly be over for now,so where could they be and why are they not answering , I thought as I kept on waiting for the call to go through and when it finally did, I was so happy.

“My darling”my mom said as into the reciever

“Hello Mom, you don’t know how long have been calling you two?”I said

“Sorry darling but the island where Cade took had no reception and you know us, we hærdly care for our phones”she said

“But you should know that I in okwould want to call you, you should have turned on your phone some how”I said

“Am sorry my child,we just got back home yesterday and i just charged my phone”

“Okay, I called because I was worried and also to tell you that I will be coming home with Cade soon”

“What? But why?”

“I will explain every thing once we get there, Cade wants to round every thing up on Cain Island and I also want …….”

“What did you just say?”

“That we want to round every thing up”I replied

“Not that? What did you call the name of the island you are staying ?”she asked

“Cain Island”I replied

“Oh no! Oh no,this can’t be happening”she said suddenly

“What’s wrong mom?”I asked feeling worried

“Get off that island Emily, get out of it fast”she yelled.

Chapter 46

EMILY POV

“What are you saying mom? Why do I have to leave the island”I said as I stared at him

“Don’t ask me why! Just leave that place right now! Please my child”she kept on begging

“Mom you know I can’t just leave, Cade and I are ………”

“Forget about Cade and get out of there, I want you out of that place, please my child!”she kept on begging

Just then the door opened and Cade walked in.

“What’s going on Emily?”he asked as he walked towards me

“It’s my mom, she is being hysterical and she is asking me to leave the island “I said as I kept on Listening to my mom on the ohone

“Emily book the next flight and return home, I don’t want to know how you do it just come back home”she kept on saying

“But why? Why are you suddenly asking me to leave ?”

“Don’t ask me that, just do as I say okay”she said

“Give me the phone”Cade said as he took the phone from me.

I sat down listening to their conversation.

“I didn’t know that I let that slip”

“You can’t blame me for not telling the name of the island that I was taking Emily to, you were sick and …….”

“But she can’t just find the nearest plane and take it”

“Listen Mrs Wilburn……”

“Okay then, I will bring her my self”he said and cut the call after having been interrupted so many times

“Did she tell you why she suddenly wants me to come back home?”I asked

“She didn’t but what I do know is that I promise to bring you myself and that is today”he said

“But why? Why will you accept her request, what about the resort and that company that is bankrupt, we still have a long way to go Cade, I just can’t leave with out doing a thing”I said

“I know but we will come back and finish it but now we must leave, you should listen to your mom, she must have a reason for not letting you stay?”he said

“Why do I feel like you want me to leave the island?”she asked

“What do you mean?”

“I don’t know why my mom is asking me to leave the island and I also don’t know why your eager to get me off of it , you two seem suspicious?”

“Stop talking and get ready Emily”he said avoiding the topic.

“I will start packing”I said as I went to get my luggage.

I wonder why mom is upset about me being here and why Cade is supporting her.

He was fine with me being here a while ago so how come he has change his mind now!

Just then my mind drifted to the day he had that collapse.

He had been asking me a question while holding my parents picture.

Does he know some thing? I thought as I took out the luggage and head back to the room.

I was surprise not to see Cade there, the only thing that showed that he was in the room was his clothes that was thrown all over the bed.

I sighed and began to pack his clothes only for some maid to walk in and take over from me.

“No I can do it”I said

“We will do it Mrs Callaghan”they said and with out waiting for my reply they took over

I left the room, since they were doing every thing, why dont I leave, I thought as I left the room.

I was heading out when I decided to go to Cade study

I found him talking on the phone and he kind of seem agitated.

I wanted to go to him but I stopped and hid beside the door when I heard what he said

“Yes, just get our flight ready, my wife and I”

“The return ticket will be for me alone, my wife wouldn’t be coming back”he added

I stood listening to what he said, he doesn’t want me to return with him,why? I thought as I stood hidden by the door.

“Have told you ,she is not coming back and so book the ticket just as have asked you”he said and cut the call.

“I can’t believe this”he muttered to himself

“Her parents have figure out some thing and so It will best if she stays in the city, am doing the right thing by doing this, she must never know the truth I need to know if she is ready “he said and quickly I ran away from the door side and as soon as he took the stairs to the upper floor.

I head out side, I don’t think I can talk to him now, not after what I heard him say.

“You shouldnt have done that!”I heard his father yelling in the dining room area.

“Why shouldn’t I! I just couldn’t stand that Emily and so instead of them continuing with their farce, I decided to stop it “his wife replied angrily

“From what I know Emily have never done any thing to you,so why cant you stand her?”he asked

“Do you have to ask that? Aren’t you even thinking about Isabel?”

“Have told you to leave Isabel out of this, I will find a way to get her to be with Cade just answer my question cause I don’t believe that you will hate Emily only because of Isabel”he said

“Fine you caught me, I don’t only hate her because of Isabel or because I marry her,I hate her because she reminds me of the past and she is also…………”

I couldn’t hear the rest of the conversation because some one pulled me out of the house and it was David.

He kept on pulling me until we got to the field.

“Haven’t they ever told you that eaves dropping is bad”he said

“I had to eaves drop, I had to know she hates me”I said softly

“But wouldn’t knowing it hurt you, wouldn’t you feel bad each time you see her, my father always tell me that it’s better you don’t know some thing than you knowing it”he said

“But not this one, she said I reminded her of the Past and some how, I believe that have stayed here before, this place feels familiar to me, there is some thing, about this place”I said as I ran through the back yard.

I could hear David calling out to me but I wasn’t listening, I had to get to that hut,now more than ever I think every thing started with that place.

When I got there, I stood starring at the house and some how it felt familiar, the feeling of being in that house got me tense.

“Emily! Why did you run off like that?”David asked as he came to stand beside me

“Tell me some thing David! How long have you been living on this island?”I asked

“I think it has been all my life but why are you suddenly asking that?”he asked

“Do you know If any one once lived here”i asked pointing to the house

“Why do you ask ?”he asked

“Please just answer me? Did some one live in that house before?”i asked

“Yes some one lived there”he said

“Who? Tell me more David, tell me who lived there”

“I can’t tell you that?”

“Okay fine just one more question, you just have to say yes or no”I said quickly

“The person who lived in that house, was it a girl”I asked and he stood Quiet for a while

“I can’t answer that question”he replied

“You don’t have to, I already have my answer” I said as I head back to the house.

He came after me and held me by my arm “what will your answer be?” He asked

“You don’t have to know”I said as I walked past him and went straight to the house.

A girl lived in that house, would that be? I thought.

It is the only logical thing I can think of, my parents once lived on the island, they would have been living at that house with me, no wonder i kept on thinking about that house.

But what about the secret Cade was saying that I should never find out, His mother is also furious with me for some thing,she was about saying it but David pulled me off and my mom reaction is some thing I should also think of.

Can these three thing be connected to some thing that has to with me.

If I should ask Cade, he wouldn’t tell me the truth like wise his parents,so the option left for me is get back to the city and talk to my parents, they won’t keep it a secret from me right.i thought as I went up the stairs to start packing.
