💊 Ryan’s POV 💊
Dad called me to the house immediately and I left the hospital and drove to the Mansion
“You called for me Dad” I said as I walked up to him in the sitting room
“The Prime Minister just announced on the news, Alexander Sanchez and his surgery team are going to Afghanistan tomorrow” Dad said and I almost laughed
“Good! This is good news!” I exclaimed “At least now I’ll finally be able to rid myself of that son of a gun”
“You’ll be going with them” Dad said and my jaw dropped
“What the heck?! I don’t think I heard you well Dad”
“You heard me right, you are going with them tomorrow” Dad repeated sternly
“Afghanistan is a war zone Dad, how could you ask me to go with them and why would I?”
“You’ve always been so shallow minded Ryan, don’t you see? Now that the Prime Minister has announced that Alexander Sanchez is going off with his surgery team to Afghanistan, the world is gonna love and respect him cause he volunteered to risk his life just to treat others and if he happens to survive that one month there and he returns, just gimme one reason he won’t be named the best Neurosurgeon in the world” Dad explained
“I understand what you’re trying to say but Alex will definitely survive cause that place is like a freaking slaughter house and there’s no way am risking my life going near that country”
“You still don’t understand do you?” Dad said “There is a high possibility of them surviving Ryan, it’s not like they are being recruited as soldiers, they are going there as doctors and they are totally under the Afghanistanian president protection”
“But….but….”
“You will volunteer to go with your surgery team too and you will make sure Alex doesn’t return with you” Dad said and I looked at him wide-eyed
“You…..you want me to kill him” I stuttered
“I don’t care how you doing but it has to be done, if you succeed, I’ll no longer have to worry about the buried secret that he’s trying to dig out and you’ll automatically be announced as the world best Neurosurgeon” Dad said
“Wait a minute, what secret is Alex trying to dig out?” I asked
“It’s none of your concern, now leave and prepare your team for tomorrow’s journey” Dad said and I sighed
He has made up his mind, there’s no way I’ll be able to convince him
I guess I’ll really be going to Afghanistan then
Oh God protect me from that war zone

Alex asked Susan, Andrew and I to meet him in the office and we all weren’t to his office together

We met him with Emma in the office, then we greeted and sat on the couch
“I have something to tell you all and am pretty sure you aren’t gonna like it” Alex said “We’ll be going on a one month trip to Afghanistan”
“What?!” We all exclaimed
“Did you just say Afghanistan?” I asked and Alex nodded
“Why will we go to that war zone, even a blind man avoids that place and you want us to march there?!” Andrew said
“The Prime Minister just completed a deal with the Afghanistanian president to get arms and ammunitions and in return, they requested for a month service from the country’s best surgery team and we were chosen” Alex explained
“It’s a sucide mission, I mean people are being killed in that country like chickens” Susan said
“We’ve got no choice, this is an order from the director and the Prime Minister, this is important for our country, perhaps, we’ll be taken to a safe place and we’ll be under the soldiers protection so I think we’ll be just fine” Emma said and I looked at her
“We? Are you coming with us?” I asked
“Yeah, so you guys should go back home for today and we’ll meet at the airport tomorrow by 10, there will be a private airplane to take us to Afghanistan tomorrow” Emma said
We had no choice but to agree
It hasn’t even been up to a week that I almost died at Brazil and now what? Am going off to a country that is currently at war
We stood up from the couch and left Alex’s office
“This is insane” Susan said
“It’s as if the government hates us, I mean why can’t Ryan and his team go, why must we be the one to go” Andrew said
“I know right, I wonder what’s the real reason behind them sending us to that execution zone” I said
Andrew offered to take me home and I agreed
💊 Megan’s POV 💊
I was done with my routine check-up on all the surgery patients when Nathan, Ryan’s assistant surgeon walked up to me
“Doctor Ryan is back, he wants us in his office now” Nathan said
We met with Owen, Ryan’s surgery technologist and we went together to Ryan’s office
“We are going to Afghanistan for one month, we’ll be leaving tomorrow so let’s meet up at the airport by 10 tomorrow” Ryan said and I looked at him wide-eyed
“Afghanistan?!!” We exclaimed….

I rested for some time on the couch before I decided to go to my room for the one month deadly journey
I heard some footsteps outside and then the door opened and Megan came in
“Why are you back so early, aren’t you supposed to be at work?” She asked
“I was about asked the same thing” I replied
“Well, you won’t believe what am about to tell you” Megan said “Am going on a month trip to Afghanistan tomorrow with Ryan and the rest of his surgery team”
“What?!” I exclaimed
“Unbelievable right?” She said
“Yes, I mean no, what I mean to say is, am also going to Afghanistan tomorrow, with the rest of Alex’s surgery team” I said
“What?!” Megan exclaimed “Are you serious?”
“Yeah, Alex just informed us today that’s why I came back early” I explained

I spoke with Tony and Mason yesterday about going to Afghanistan and they were terrified
They suspected that the Prime Minister is deliberately sending me on the journey to get rid of me, so I’ll stop asking him questions
But could that be true?
The Prime Minister doesn’t seem to me that kind of person but honestly, he’s starting to seem suspicious to me
I mean I finally remembered something after 17 years, I finally got a lead and maybe a chance of finding out what happened that night and he’s suddenly sending me on a one month journey to one of the most dangerous countries in the world
I’ve been trying to reach him since last night but the call isn’t going through
I would have have visited his residence but I don’t have the time
I have no idea what’s going on but I’ll definitely survive this one month trip and when I come back, am gonna find out everything that happened that night
I drove to the airport and the others were already there, Emma, Jasmine, Susan and Andrew
And then I saw Ryan standing with his surgery team too
“What the hell is he doing here?” I asked
“He’s volunteered to go to Afghanistan so we are going together” Emma said
“Volunteered?” I scoffed and then faced Ryan “You aren’t the type to volunteer on such a dangerous mission so what’s it? What’s your plan? Why are you coming with us?”
“Come on Alex, don’t let your paranoia get the best of you” he said as he patted my shoulder
“Get your hands on me!” I said sternly and he did
“Anyway, am a doctor too, I just want to do some humanitarian service” he said but of course I don’t believe him
I know him too well and I’ll have to be wary of him cause am sure he has a hidden motive

We boarded the plane and I wanted to seat with Megan by my side but Emma stopped us
“Remember Megan is working as an insider for us” Emma whispered “So Ryan must not suspect any kind of relationship between you two”
So I ended up sitting with Andrew who was obviously happy that I ended up sitting next to him
Andrew kept talking about irrelevant stuffs but my attention wasn’t with him, it’s with Alex who was sitting right next to Emma
I don’t know why, I just don’t like seeing them together
Half an hour later, the flight attendant announced that the plane is now stable on air and we could stand up if we want
I decided to go to the washroom mainly just to escape Andrews talks cause I was really not in the mood for them
I stared at the mirror in the washroom for long looking at my face
“Why are you so sad about seeing Alex sitting beside Emma, what’s wrong with you Jasmine?” I asked aloud
I finished washing up and I decided to leave
I opened the door to see Ryan standing right outside and I flinched
“That’s the men washroom” I said pointing at the other door
“I know that’s the men’s washroom” he said
“Then what are you doing here?”
“For you sweetie, I wanted to see you so badly” he said
“You do realize that the last time we saw, you tried to kill me by pushing me off a cliff right?”
“Com’n, I really had no choice then, I had to do whatever was necessary to get that statement from Alex, not that it was of any use in the end” Ryan said
“You know what? Just let me be and step out of my way” I said as I tried to leave but he caught my hand and pushed me against the wall
“What the hell are you trying to do?” I asked as my breathing increased
“What else? Am just admiring you, have you anyone told you how beautiful you are?” He said as he brought his face closer to mine
I tried to struggle free but his grasp on my hands was strong
“Let me be Ryan or I’ll yell” I threatened
“Feel free to shout as much as you can sweetie” he said as he moved his face closer obviously trying to kiss me
I moved my face and yelled as much as I can
“Help!!” I yelled and he only laughed
“You can’t escape from me Jasmine” he said as he tried to kiss me again and I struggled with all my might
“Step away from her!!!” Alex yelled as he walked in
